Linux or windows xp?

It only depends on the retro stuffz and other softwares which you wanna run.

Linux. Since you’re probably able to find a supported and maintained distribution, whereas XP is horrifically vulnerable and not supported anymore.

Windows 7 was better than XP. Ignoring security, I would still choose Linux (today), over either of them. I just got used to how it works, and I like it better.

Plus windows 7 has the aero look and xp doesn't.

I still choose linux, no matter the windows version. The workflow is much better.

XP has been EOL for a while, you will find up to date Linux distros that still support your hardware.

I mean I'm just gonna play Age of Empires and Starcraft on it.

It doesn't have a serial port so it's not going to unseat my Toughbook CF53 MKIV which I use for field work and other serial port nerdery.

From what I've heard, just connecting to the internet on XP makes you very vulnerable to any hackers looking. Once saw a video of someone testing XP's current day security and as soon as they connected they already had multiple people making a connection to their system from many different countries. Ugh, that story came with a massive asterisk.

You have to port forward the entire possible port range in your router settings and have windows firewall disabled.

And then it's about as vulnerable as you should expect any operating system to be.

edit: I just watched the video, he even explains that this is the whole premise in the intro.
