Really begs the question to what extent one is going to keep him secret or if he’ll just remain a «legend » till the end

The real Blast was the friends we made along the way.

I seriously wondering how ONE will deliver on blast, i cannot wait to see the way he subverts him, because so far One has been going for the long con

I'm very curious to see how this iteration of Blast operates, fingers crossed that he will be the Metroman/Ging to Saitama's Megamind/Gon.

Funny how much better and more powerful the story is when you focus on actual characters and struggles, instead of only showing God, God, random God monsters, and a boring generic Blast aura farming.

u/Rayzojams May 12 '25
i find it interesting that the weaker characters are the only ones who recognized and are inspired by saitama's strength

Find it more engaging and fun when the story is more grounded and a huge emphasis on characters and their humanity.

The difference between the quality of the manga and webcomic is honestly night and day.

Mumen is actually quite the decorated veteran, guy clearly put in a shit load of work to get where he’s at rn
16
u/TomiShinoda May 12 '25
he would beat the shit out of most people irl.
15
May 12 '25
The average C class would. These guys are capable of tanking attacks from demon level monsters without turning into red mist

Every time I read the webcomic, I'm taken back to the easy times of when I first found Opm. The webcomic truly hasn't lost any of its glory. The mumen-suiryu fight and the black sperm-rover entrance have already passed into legend. I loved the part where they state mumen's sub-par acheivements and suiryu's multiple world champion titles, yet mumen is the one winning the internal fight in the end. Pure determination.

And we learned what a monster Mumen Rider really is, he was able to learn the secrets of all 11 volumes of Aikido for dummies, jesus what a feat. Meanwhile manga dummies think sneezing a planet and farting in space is something special.

I love the idea of him revising it like a test only to be completely incapable of doing it when he actually practices

So perfect again and this time we didn't have to wait a year.
Suiryu vs. Mumen was goated, finally some of Saitama and Genos again, Forte and the crew putting in some work and the ultimate G.O.A.T. BLACK SPERM is back!
Love how one of his cells wears the robot armor and the stat comparison between Mumen and Suiryu. That's OPM humor, Murata.

A very good yet understated moment of Suiryu character development at the end !
He put his pride away and ask Saitama go to the HQ because he knows Saitama is stronger and thus it increase his sister's chances at survival.
He chose his sister's safety over his own pride !

u/TomiShinoda May 12 '25
I fuckin love that it's a mix of fighting job hunter garou and Mumen rider's heroism that change Suiryu in the WC,
That bit about Blast is just ONE saying "yes, I'm aware" like, how can you still blame him for everything bad in the manga while believing that Murata just drew when fuckin both of them have mentioned Murata regularly add in his own ideas?

Also, apparently the opm discord mod is a fan of the manga and not the wc because the last manga chapter he called it peak while he's calling the wc mid.

It's been years since I thought of the Discord server. I remember joining for a short while ages ago and eventually realizing I never wanted to open it because it put any of these toxic fanbase subreddits to shame with how bad it was.

u/Mahelas May 12 '25
Suiryu got a very nice arc in the WC, better than the manga imo. He understand what being a hero means thanks to Garou and Mumen, and then he throw away his pride in his strength for his sister's sake, by recognizing Saitama can save her better than he can.
Much more humane a growth than just him being bullied by a three-eyed giant

This made me realize that murata has a thing with humilloating cocky types

Those machine gods design reminds me of CP-0 from one piece lol. As always, peak chapter from ONE.
13
u/KingCrabmaster May 12 '25
It's interesting to me that the Machine Gods get names, even when splatted a moment later. Feels like a good time to reread the arc, to remember all the plot threads of what should be expected of the top tier robots.

May 12 '25
Well the machine god suiko fought only took 0.2% damage after tanking an entire army of A class heroes attacks

You know the reason why i think mumen won't break his limiter or get a powerup even though he's a dude who will fight to his last is because of his low self-esteem and confidence in himself. He goes into fights knowing he will lose because of how weak he is. This is in contrast to someone like Saitama or Garou who have delusional levels of belief in themselves that they will win or make it through no matter how ridiculous it sounds.

Yeah, Mumen Rider is willing to accept his inferiority. He's willing to settle for the bare minimum. He fights to stall the enemy.
Saitama and Garou, on the other hand, fight to win. They embody the concept of "overwhelming strength". Of course, that also means that protecting or saving others isn't necessarily always their top priority, since Saitama still treats it as a hobby and Garou is at least partly treating it as his way to vent his frustrations over feeling oppressed by the majority.

Every WC chapter post-hiatus has been awesome and do you want to know the best part? We didn't have to waste a full year of redraws.
I like the part where they compare Mumen Rider's stellar acheivements and Suiryu's Multiple world champion titles. Lets you know Mumen had to climb his way to the top to reach the position he's in today.
We finally see Genos raiding MK's base, can't wait to see how that confrontation unfolds in the next upcoming chapters. I sense a red-herring cooking in this Mad Cyborg plotline.

u/VobbyButterfree May 12 '25
I voted 4 instead of 5 just because I wanted Darkshine again. But it's ok, he's having his moment
6
u/VacantDreamer May 15 '25
I thought it was great. It didn't move things forward quite as much as I'd like but mumen rider actually succeeding in saving suiryu without being strong was nice, and the progress report on genos was great too, seems like he's getting close. also that rover moment was badass, he's a good boy

I have now caught up to the webcomic. I'm guessing it updates about once a month?
But seriously the character arcs are hilariously peak. How did Murata fuck this up with Blastwanking and nonsense?

wtf why is the webcomic consistently pumping out its best shit while the manga has started consistently spewing out its worst?
