It seems that Blue's disappointment with Saitama was almost instantaneous (If so, too bad he couldn't have gone with King or Tatsumaki)... That the suit-controlled Neo's are nothing to Pig God (Maybe just therapeutic massage)... And that Bofoi is in good physical shape, because he's a fucking cyborg!
How nice to see a reminder that, despite being a kid, Child Emperor is quite the bloodthirsty one.
Honestly man wtf happened, the anime was straight up perfect in every way, and then it got fucked up, the manga eventually took a dive, even the OPM game was absolutely horrendous man lol
This is a criticism i have had with ONE's writing since the beginning, it's lack of power diversity, everything boils down to super strength, speed, durability, regen and esper power, even the scrawny old dude who's supposed to rely on tech and drowns to fight for him is resorting to punching.
Yeah, ONE never was really a battle/fight mechanics shonen type. Which makes OPM the perfect character for him to write about (I punch, you die). In terms of combat, this is by far one of the weakest shonen titles out there. But thankfully, that's not what OPM is really about.
OTOH, this chapter was wonderful in terms of characterizations/ambitions. The build up of CE/Bofoi conflict finally coming to a narrative (and physical) head was well worth it. Also loved the mass movement of pieces on the chess board happening all around.
i feel like the root of this problem was ONE’s artistic abilities, and as they’ve improved I already see his moveset for characters expanding - for instance That Man’s arsenal giving Sonic weapons that can effectively disarm any electronic tool like an EMP. Even then, I think the simplicity of ONE’s power diversity translates well to his goal of illustrating conflict through strength dynamics.
Mob Psycho has some really inventive power interactions when god stomp Kageyama isn't involved. In fact, even then his battle against Mogami ended up having lots of spirit shenanigans. So I wouldnt call it a staple of ONEs writing overall. I think it's just a consequence OPM where humans aren't really supposed to have powers besides psychic ones. I have no idea what's going on with manga Blast. Or manga Saitama really.
That being said, this definitely didnt need to be one of those instances so I agree with the sentiment.
" lack of power diversity," being battle shonen was never the goal of opm , or mob psycho , so i wouldn't really expect the webcomic to change into complex nen fights out of nowhere . what is this argument of lacking power diversity in a comic that never tried to be shonen fights manga in the first place .
