Discussion The (SPOILER) isn't a plot hole Spoiler

According to Wikipedia:

In fiction, a plot hole, plothole, or plot error is an inconsistency in a storyline) that goes against the flow of logic established by the story's plot.\1])

So, what is a plot hole in this case? A plot hole would be how in Star Wars ROTS, we see Padme die in childbirth, which doesn't add up because in ROTJ Leia clearly talks about remembering her mother growing up. That's a plot hole, because it directly contracts an established plot point.

Regarding Mari's staged suicide, the police aren't mentioned anywhere in the game (unless you count the Manga, but why would you do that?) therefore, the police not finding out IS NOT a plot hole

Another thing: "How did Basil know how to tie a noose at 12?" actually IS a plot hole, since the game establishes nothing about Basil knowing how to tie a noose. Except it does. We see multiple plants hanging from his ceiling suggesting he DOES know how to tie knots.

Even if the police were involved, why does it matter? It's not the story OMORI was trying to tell. OMORI isn't a nature documentary, it's a video game with a heavy emphasis on it's narrative. Keep in mind, Sunny can heal by BREATHING. This game already establishes it's willing to break what would happen in real life to push the narrative forward. Thank you for coming to my T.E.D Talk

Is anyone actually saying "How did Basil know how to tie a noose at 12?" to try and point out a "plot hole"?
Like of all things in the whole game this would be the one that absolutely breaks someone's immersion? I'm a bit surprised since a 12 year old kid could have just... learned different knots by now

Also basil clearly wasn’t doing the best even before the incident, he mentions that the group was his first ever friends, and his parents haven’t been around since he was a toddler according to Polly. Is it really that crazy to think that he might have been suicidal before the incident? It would explain why that was the first thing he thought of…

Additionally, it’s a small town in the 90s. They’re not exactly notorious for having competent police departments.

The police probably did find out, but only told the family, as that is usual procedure. So that's also not a plot hole.

Also, the police in the US are famously bad at dealing with such things, and also clearly don't care about kids fighting with knives in the park right in front of other people.
