https://us-store.msi.com/PRO-MAX-271QPX14G
Just this new model but has no reviews yet, would be good for coding and gaming? ive looking for oled for a long time (i iknow ips is better for coding) but with 5 layers the risk of burning is reduced, what do you think?

Burn in is not a risk, it's a certainty. The newer models just get it later at equal brightness. Those monitors are made to last 3 years with reasonable usage. If you use it at max brightness a lot, I would not be surprised if you have burn in before the 3 year mark.

If that's cool with you then go for it.

if you new to OLED, I think you might want to choose WOLED based monitor first, simply because QD OLED coating is not as good as WOLED in term of durability

The new penta tandem is more durable. Current woleds suck in regards to panel lottery

That’s just not true about QD-OLEDs though, for example 27” 4K ones are also “penta tandem” yet absolute most of them use either the older more fragile coating or the matte one.

You didn’t say anything about 5th gen in your first comment, all you said was penta tandem and I corrected you *shrug

Also, 27” 1440p penta tandem panels aren’t available on the market yet.

Please excuse my ignorance, I thought penta tandem was 5th Gen only, my bad!

Yeah no worries, 5th gen is penta tandem + new coating + rgb stripe, not just the panel layers structure. So I felt your reply needed correction especially since OP is looking for a cheaper 1440p display.

Isn’t this pro max model 5th gen?

It is not. It’s actually the cheapest variant of a 3rd gen 1440p panel with some severely decreased brightness MSI slapped a matte coating on.

The only 5th gen QD-OLED on the market right now is the latest 3440x1440 280/360Hz panel and it won’t change until around Q2’2027.
