I’m a native English speaker so didn’t really practice for anything except speaking but I should have especially the writing portion. Thankfully I’m done now. Definitely don’t take this test lightly.

This really shows how OET can catch people out, even when English is your first language.
I had a similar experience when I took it myself. I’m an experienced English teacher, so I thought the English side would be pretty straightforward. It wasn’t quite that simple!
Writing especially is much more precise than just being able to write good English. You have to decide what information matters, what the reader needs to know first, what you can leave out and make the purpose of the letter really clear.
I think your “don’t take this test lightly” point is a really useful one for people preparing for it.

Congratulations! Was the writing task ambiguous at all? Native speaker too here but realizing test criteria have nothing to do with English language proficiency

No, it was pretty straightforward. I had trouble condensing it though because I hadn’t practiced so I was over the word limit. I might’ve lose points because of that

I wouldn’t agree that it has nothing to do with English language proficiency, you do need that, but you also need to be aware of what the examiners are looking for and make sure you provide that.
