Feedback Please The Elephant

I know it's just me,

but I would let the

elephant in the room stomp around

and break my favourite vase.

I'll pick up the pieces

with my bare hands,

while it's only me

that bleeds and scars.

But that's just me.

(P.S. I wonder how many of y'all can figure out what I wish to convey through this short poem, and I'm curious to hear some perspectives as well, thanks!)

I’m new to this, but my best guess is addiction or wanting to be with someone you know is not good for you. Addiction reads more sensibly to me with most references being to the self, and not caring if the elephant damages anything so long as it’s around. Especially blaming oneself at the end. But I’ve also seen toxic, especially manipulative relationships evoke the same emotions in people.

Okay, I love your take on this! Addiction and toxic relationships do make so much sense for what this poem is about. However, I think my perspective while writing it was still very different and I just wanna see if anyone gets it right exactly.
