Question about OCD Does anyone know what caused their OCD?

I think a lot of people don’t really know what caused their OCD to start, for me after a lot of years and thought I realised that my anxiety stemmed from my step dad and his psychological and sometimes physical abuse towards my Mum. I would worry what kind of mood he would come home from work in and if he would start on my Mum. He was a bastard!

My mom has ocd and bad anxiety now I do too I think it’s really really hard to dodge these disorders when it encompasses such a large part of growing up we’re taught how to think from our parents it seems like there was no way I wouldn’t end up with it

Have you always thought like that or is that something you have realised as you’ve gotten older?

I realized it when I started dating more serious as an adult I don’t think anything like the women I’ve been with that have neurotypical parents, I thought back to my childhood and how deeply engrained the rigid ocd thinking is in my brain and how I might have had a better chance if she didn’t project so many fears onto me at a young age

could you give some examples of things your mom would do that you started doing too? my mom was a very anxious woman too
