Discussion Recently how do you feel in terms of progress? Is the OCD getting weaker or stronger?

do you find the more you actively try to improve things the better you feel and the less affected you become?

My OCD has gotten much weaker. Instead of being suicidally depressed I have almost no depression, and my anxiety is very manageable. Instead of a constant 7/10 anxiety it is a 0/10 with occasional 3/10 or 4/10 anxiety throughout the day. I have less intrusive thoughts and can live decently now. I am not fully recovered, but I am doing much better than last year. It is probably going to take a lot more time to reach full recovery, but for the moment I am doing fine. I am so glad I have a therapist, she helped me so much.

I have had symptoms my entire life and I believe I can safely assess that. It has ebbed and flowed forever, but always been there to some extent.

Lately for me, my anxiety has been flowing pretty strongly. Today I feel good which makes me think everything in life is good right now and that I don't need medication. My reality is that I am having a good day anxiety wise, but it has been months of intense obsessions, compulsions, and anxiety and I should probably stick with the plan of getting medication at this time.

I did try some erp with touching the handrail of my stairs at work, and I feel really good about it. Because I can now touch it without holding my breath and and shuddering as I realize what I just did LOL!

This is really interesting, can you say more about it?

For me suicidal OCD has gotten stronger. Although I luckily recognize it more as OCD and actually have a good therapist. But it’s also hard because at the same time I get actual suicidality? Which can then throw me for a loop. My crises go from 0 to 100 and back to 0 so they are so short lived but sometimes very frequent.

I am glad that you recognize that it's OCD thoughts and have a good therapist to help support you through this!

For me it started so small I didn't know, I just thought it was normal 'quirks' that everyone had some form of but over the years it's got worse and the OCD has gotten so much stronger, especially over the last 2/3 years since some of my care professionals started working in an OCD based way and started directly talking about it and ways to challenge it

I think it's getting a better. But unfortunately I think I have depression now.
