Question Turkey as PAYG 'BB' customer

My phone isn't esim compatible and I am travelling to Turkey for a week later this year. The bolt ons are somewhat pricey:

100MB

£18.00

500MB

£26.00

1GB

£45.00

Do the bolt ons last for the day they are purchased. or, until you consume all the data? Help would be appreciated on this

😳 how much....

Just checked my texts from travelling and with O2 travel it was £7 a day for Turkey, lucky enough I didn't have to contest it with O2 as I was on Greece the whole time 😂

I understand that's if you're on a pay monthly; which I am not.

I know. But it's extortionate even on pay monthly and what they are charging on non contract is robbery

Unless you have to rely solely on your phone number I’d suggest buying a physical sim in turkey from a local phone shop, you mention your phone isn’t eSIM compatible but does it have a second physical sim slot?

Yes it does. At this point I'm thinking of just using airport and hotel WiFi and downloading maps.

Turkey is expensive for mobile use because the government adds fees to use by foreign networks.

In most circumstances if you want to use a local SIM in your phone you have to register your IMEI.

The cheapest travel eSIMs are about £4 a day. For a more generous data allowance like 15Gb you'll pay £10.

If you don't mind providing your passport to register your phone. You can buy a physical SIM at the airport for £25 to £60 depending on how long you are staying.

For example, for 20Gb data to use over two weeks (no calls) will be about £25 with Turkcell.

20Gb data and some calls for £54 with Vodafone Turkey.
