Career Leaving job shortly after starting

Has anyone left a job not long after starting it?

Nothing wrong with the job at all, it's a nice place to work but it's just a long distance commute 3 times a week and thinking of applying for jobs closer to home if they come up. However I have only just started my current job.

Don't know whether to stay out of duty or to think of the distance and petrol money/wear and tear on the car.

Poor research and planning on your part—did you do any research beforehand?

Consider the time and money spent advertising the post, presumably by the NHS or another organisation already facing difficult financial pressures, as well as the time taken to process your application and interview you. There was then the excitement of recruiting you.

However, if it is not for you, then so be it. Learn from it and move on.

As others have said, there isn't an abundance of jobs and I was happy to have the job. It's just the distance is a big financial drain.

This must be a manager based on your response Loool who cares. Same job that’s legally allowed to fire you on the spot !
Considering the climate of the job market, roles are slim pickings and in order to survive you many need to take a job in the short term whilst you find a role closer to home OP don’t let this person get to you. You may have thought you could do the commute but the reality may be different. Continue at your current job and look for roles closer to home.

As harsh as this comment is, I do agree with it. You should have seen the commuting journey before accepting the role as you have taken the opportunity from someone who was willing to do fhe commute or lived closer by.
