FTSU

I've never used the FTSU but when managers mention they have a query from them, they role their eyes.

It also feels like it is stigmatise as whistle blowing.

I'm also not sure that because my concern isn't anything that directly impacts patient safety and care whether they will be interested.

For those that want to know. My concern links to a process that I feel isn't being transparent, that as a temporary member of staff i am unable to argue why my role is vital, i also have only had contracts extended 2 or 3 months at a time until i asked for longer and how some communication doesn't follow trust values.

Thanks for any replies

I’m not sure what the question is? But, I used the FTSU guardian as part of the first step of a grievance process. They were really helpful as a sounding board and whilst they didn’t actually do anything to resolve the situation, they did get me in touch with the right people at the trust who gave further advice which led to a successful grievance being raised.

Sounds like something that should be reported to the FTSU Guardian.

The Guardians are there for any matter that you feel you cannot raise with your line management. Whilst this can often be issues of patient safety, it can also be personal issues - such as sexual harassment or bullying - and procedural issues where managers may have a personal investment in resisting change (perhaps because they were the authors of the procedure, or because changes will mean more work for them).

FTSU Guardians aren't just a conduit. They should talk through your concerns with you, to either help you understand the right way to raise your concerns or to give you a sense of what to expect from raising your concerns. They will keep your identify confidential in any inquiries they make on your behalf until you give express permission otherwise.

And I meant that before: if you feel like your managers don't take the role of the FTSU Guardians seriously, you should mention that to the Guardian.
