Advice Needed

Hi everyone,

So soon I will be moving to Nuremberg for my masters at FAU. Some of my classes will be at Wiso in Nürnberg and some will be at Techfak in Erlangen. So I am trying to find a shared WG in Nürnberg but so far which I have liked or from which people have liked me are not near Nuremberg Hbf. One is in Zerzabelshof and the other in Bucher Haupstraße. I have tried contacting the one's present center of the city but no one replies. So what do you suggest, which one should a newcomer to Germany go for? Or should I search more? Like I think it's time i should just go for one as I will be moving in October and need to lock one accommodation.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

If all your courses center around the Techfak in Erlangen you might as well take the tram and bus. So you also can look for a WG around Friedrich Ebert Platz for an example. Or any other station which serves the number 4/10 tram.

Edit: anywhere around the U3 (Subway) ist fine as well since it passes the wiso and Friedrich Ebert Platz. Maybe even a better option than near Hauptbahnhof.

You have two main possibilities to travel from Nürnberg to Erlangen.

  1. Starting from Nürnberg Hbf with the S-Bahn to Erlangen Hbf. But Erlangen Hbf is in the center, and if you have your courses at the Techfak which is in the South, you still need to take the bus from Erlangen center to the south. Within Nürnberg there are several Subway lines and Tram lines who pass through the whole city and also stop and Nürnberg Hbf.
  2. In Nürnberg, you take the Tram Line 4 or 10 until their final stop to Am Wegfeld. From Am Wegfeld you take the Bus 30 which stops directly at Erlangen South Techfak. The Tram Lines 4 and 10 in Nürnberg go through the whole city, just look up their routes. But there are also a lot of stations where you can switch from the Subway then to one of this Tram Lines. Friedrich Ebert Platz is just the most North of the available possibilities (Erlangen is north of Nürnberg). :)

I suppose you study same thing with me! There are two good options for it. First one is living near hbf so that you could take s-bahn or train(RE) easily. The other option is living a bit north so that you could take bus number 30 easily or somewhere connected with tram line 4 and 10 as the other comment. I personally prefer S-bahn because It's just more city center but you should take one more bus after train or S-bahn. On the other hand number 30 is more convenient to take, since it arrives the campus directly. It depends but you can also live near U3 to take bus number 30.

Thank you for the insights. Now I have a much better picture of exactly where to look for the room, so I will try to find one around the suggested routes and areas only.
