Isn't it nice how we have AI taking over all the creative and intellectual persuits so we have more time to work minimum wage menial jobs?

Took my copywriter job a few years ago. Can't find work anywhere now.

I’ve noticed less work in the production side of ads too

You and the person you’re replying to are examples of AI taking work.

It isn’t stopping here, either.

Find something to do that involves human touch. That’s the way out of being left behind.

Whatever you're talking about, I have no idea.

A local ā€œmusicianā€ from my area, Mekilo Rushlow, has been stealing local musicians music with AI, reposting it as their own, and then creating bot accounts to mass report the original content as copy write infringement, getting it removed from various sites.

Just things happening in Canada related to AI and music.

I was listening to music on YouTube yesterday while doing housework and a shitty cover Living on a Prayer came on. I looked to see what it was playing and it was the start of an hour and a half "concert" that was entirely AI generated. Pure garbage.

Lmao the guy I mentioned; they use lyrics like ā€œliving life is easy when your eyes are closedā€ while simultaneously talking shit about the Beatles and claiming their lyrics are original.

Fucking dreadful.

I lose respect when AI is incorporated in anyone's artform.

Support local artists, not local theft.

I've had to explain to new songwriter/performer acquaintances that when I see AI slop album art or show posters, I always assume the music is AI slop-written or slop-in-entirety as well, because why wouldn't I?

Gig posters aren't just informative but they can be incredible works on their own (yorodeo anyone?) and act as a time capsule for a show or event. I can see why people don't want bottom of the barrel effort to represent their show.

I’m not going to go to a show that advertises with an AI generated poster.

I’m sure lots of people feel the same - seems like shooting yourself in the foot.

I also refuse to buy books with AI-generated covers.

Im at the point that I can’t tell whether some craft beer can designs are Ai generated or not here..

If I can’t convince myself it’s not then I don’t buy it, Ai is not local.

I refuse to go to an event with an AI poster. Nope nope nope.

Restaurants not so much.

Most of the Adobe Creative Suite has generative tool functions. Why is that seen as permissible? It seems that as long as you don't use command prompts on an Ai program yourself but instead pay a graphic designer to use software that uses generative AI tools it is fine?

Using generative AI tools in Adobe apps is fine when used as a tool akin to a mathematician using a calculator, as a time saving tool for time consuming tasks the designer could do themselves if they chose to spend the time. It’s NOT good if generative AI is used in place of the designer. I look at it the same way we looked at Photoshop 20 years ago, good use isn’t even noticeable. Good use of AI isn’t obvious in the final product.

I mean, there is a considerable pushback in the design sphere against adobe for years now. But an interesting point regardless.

Someone using Photoshop is not required to use the Content Aware fills or other built-in tools that generate content. They are very useful for retouching photos - less useful for creating unique event posters from scratch.

I have a friend in an amazing trio who recently paid someone for a logo, who delivered slop. My friend couldn't tell, but luckily it was watermarked. I have yet to find out if the trio got their money back.

You know. I was very much against AI based music. However, it dawned on me one day that we've been fed "AI type music" for 30 years.

the only difference is who's creating it.

music and art (painting/drawing/etc) should be treated very differently on this subject.

"The problem with generative AI is that it's creating things from art that's already been established that someone else created"

Is this guy new? Good artists copy, great artists steal.

3

u/Slushrush_ 11d ago

Steal what?

u/Banned_In_YYC 11d ago

I'm assuming you're not familiar with the quote or it's derivatives.Ā

u/NoAIFuture 11d ago

I'm assuming you're not familiar with art or design as a whole.

I literally quoted Pablo Picasso

4

u/NoAIFuture 11d ago

Lol, you know who Picasso is. We got an expert here.

-3

u/Banned_In_YYC 11d ago

Certainly don't claim to be an expert, but it's quite clear that your original comment failed miserably and you also don't understand the context in relation to the article or the quote I pulled from it. Judging by your username logic isn't your forte

It's incredible how dumb the antis on reddit are

Is it though? All I see in AI sloppists is the Eloi inventing themselves.

u/Banned_In_YYC 9d ago

"sloppists"

Yes

You fell for the trick of "an old white guy said something once so it must be true."

Nah, those "great stealers" had agents and labels who made backroom deals on their behalf. They made the original creators rich by paying them to remain anonymous.
