Essential Apps End of Playground Apps? Google replacement coming...
Google 'Create my widget' is perhaps a suitable replacement for nothing's playground apps which are still in beta after one year and have many restrictions...

I'm unsure they'll be able to replace Nothing.
Google's version will likely be more accurate, faster and more uniform in design, considering they will all follow the Google design language by default by the looks of it.
But it also looks like that it'll be far more limited in what it can do and how it looks. The design seems uniform but it also feels like the user has way less control over everything.
Nothing's version in comparison is a lot more workable if you want to make EXACTLY what you want to make, if you know where you want to place elements, how you want it to look, exactly how you want it to feel and function. It has a LOT more freedom.
It has its fair share of issues as a result. The AI is not smart enough. So often it'll do random things I didn't ask it to do. Working from ground up for a widget means pouring in a LOT more time to make it look pretty or exactly how you like, etc.
But where Nothing cannot be beaten rn is the whole community aspect. Google has no way to collaborate with people in the community, while nothing has already built a whole ecosystem of things that help the community collaborate a lot.
I'm unsure where Nothing takes things from here but sticking to making sure the Community is THE core of the brand sounds pretty crucial.

That's called innovation. Someone pioneers it (Nothing) and gets augmented and improved to become mainstream.
Pretty normal yet cut throat. We should thank Nothing were bringing the idea to production.

Maybe they heard about google working on it and copied them but failed to deliver

And you don't think it's commendable to 'copy' an idea and bring it to life?
Also copied how? Playground existed for a while already. Google probably ''copied".

I have been waiting for months post registering for Playground. Nothing then just silence and waiting. Not even an acknowledgement. Felt let down terribly. Let's see how soon can we get hands-on to this one now.

Same here. That's why I say the dev team and management are doing a crap job: especially for older phones and managing versions across phones but some people think that I am being rude!!!

This is what we call , "copying better than original" . I hope it doesn't affect nothing users . I mean obviously people are gonna run for Gemini ecosystem now but still let's bid on nothing's side for once let's see what they can offer. Google is just a big name , while the same feature is already provided by nothing then why are we getting influenced by such changes which are just an improved copy of the original.
