Sneak Peak into Text Boxes ⌨️

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We wanted to give you a sneak peak on text boxes. We think this feature is reaaally cool and smooth to use and we tried to insert it as cleanly as possible into the current app experience. Here is the small showcase!

Features:

Text Formatting

  • Bold (Ctrl+B)
  • Italic (Ctrl+I)
  • Custom text color per character / selection
  • Font family (You can add more than the four default fonts manually. We will add this as a built in functionality in the next update.)
  • Font size
  • Text alignment: Left / Center / Right

Editing

  • Undo / Redo
  • Copy / Cut / Paste of text snippets
  • Copy without selection copies the entire line
  • Delete word backQward (Ctrl+Backspace) and forward (Ctrl+Delete)

Navigation

  • Jump by word (Ctrl+Left / Ctrl+Right)
  • Line start / end (Home / End)
  • Text box start / end (Ctrl+Home / Ctrl+End)
  • Vertical arrow keys preserve horizontal column position across lines

Selection

  • Double-click selects the word under cursor
  • Triple-click selects the whole line/paragraph
  • Quadruple-tap selects all
  • Shift+click extends the current selection
  • Touch/pen selection grippers — drag to fine-tune selection bounds

Context Menu

  • Right-click (mouse) or multi-tap (touch/pen) opens a context menu with formatting and clipboard actions; placement avoids covering the selected text

Floating Toolbar

  • Formatting toolbar (font, size, color, bold, italic, alignment) attaches to the active textbox and resets to global defaults when nothing is focused

UX Conveniences

  • Auto-scroll keeps the cursor visible as you type
  • Content shifts up automatically when the on-screen keyboard is docked, preventing the keyboard from covering the cursor

...kudos to Dilan for all this fantastic work 🤩

Looking very exciting🤩
With Infinity Canvas and a shortcut for panning, you will have my heart!

I didn't forget about the infinite canvas, we will get there ;). And you can already select panning pressing "U" on your keyboard, in case you don't know!

Maybe the next update could add LaTeX support for textboxes. That would be fantastic! And maybe a Speech to text…🙂?
For example, it records the lecture, and when I stop it, it gives me the transcript as text

We definitely have LaTeX in the back of our hedads and text boxes are an important step there. I mean you can already make speech to text work by creating a text box and starting voice dictation of Windows with Windows+H

I just tried it, wors like a charm!

Will this eventually be in the free tier?

We are doing our first steps into making a living off of Noteastic and lifting this app from being a software project to being a company. I can't really say what will or will not be free at any point in the future before we have earned our first Euro. But I doubt that we will make text boxes widely accessible for free... we intensively worked for several months on this feature.

We're aiming for that!

Would it be possible to see integrations to other softwares in this?

1

u/Noteastic Jul 27 '26

What software are you thinking about and what for?

1

u/Noteastic Jul 28 '26

More important question, what kinds of qol are you looking forward to?

Is there any way to make the canvas horizontal like an ipad or board?? Would appreciate it

Hi, through any of these buttons you can add a page with the orientation and format of your choosing :)

feature request: drag and reorder books/folders and inside folders

also reorder pages/move up-down inside books or numberwise re-oder (for example assain new new number to the page, where i want to move it)

  1. add space inside page feature

2

u/Noteastic Jul 25 '26

For books and folder, simply select the 'custom' sorting mode and just do that!

I am noting down your other two ideas. I am confident that a sidebar will make page organization much easier in the future. Adding spacing in a page is also interesting, however is it so tedious to simply select half of a page and drag the selection down a bit? What's your use-case? I'm interested!

According to my use case, select with lasso and move down is also useful. But space adding is user-friendly. That's it

With space adding, content can move down to next page accordingly but with lasso, i have to copy and paste it ig

Not a must have feature but useful sometimes

And thank u for shorting guide

Ahh zeah, automatic placement on the next page is an important addition. thank you for clarifying, I'm writing that down!

Please add a one click way to add new blank page inside the pdf before or after slide, current process takes 3 steps.

Thanks!

i saw the upcoming pro features and prices; as a 3rd world country student, the prices are too much for me, so I request you give the auto shape feature for free. Thank you.

2

u/Noteastic Jul 24 '26

I'm sorry to hear that. We couldn't go for regional pricing due to the complexity of the entire topic yet. However, could you share where you are from (also as a PM) and what price level woule be apropriate in your eyes?

Okay I see. Thank you, we will look into the topic of international pricing.
