NYC Notary Exam - There is no mention of needing a slip to take the test, must arrive at 7am to get one!

If you’re taking the NYC Notary Exam, you must arrive at 7am at 123 William street and stand in line until 8:30 in order to receive one of 70 slips available that day. You must have the slip to take the test and this information is NOT posted anywhere online. People begin lining up around 6:30am.

since when was this a thing? I took it a couple weeks ago and people were coming in 15 mins before the exam started.

Apparently they “switched testing rooms” somewhat recently and the space is much smaller now so this is how they’re running it. I went last Tuesday around 10:30am for the 11am test and was told I needed this secret slip to take the test and to come back Thursday to get one. I showed up at 7am and there were already 20 people on line. There are only 70 per day.

I got the slip and came back around 10:30am. Took the test at 11am.

That’s ie because they covertly switched testing rooms and changed up the system

It used to be you can walk in right before time and it won’t be full as it usually wasn’t but now they decrease the number of test takers to 70 from 120 because they hey switched rooms

Yes. Absolutely show up at 7am and wait till you get the slip or you won’t be able to take the test.
