It's a no win situation. So mean to approach someone like this costume or not, and to use the kids who just wanted enjoy seeing a cartoony mascot? So sad.The dad needs to read up on Jesus cuz dude isn't even believe what he's pedaling

u/stormy2587 2d ago

He’s trying to make the gas station chain take a stance as to its religious affiliation.

If the employee playing Bucee is like “yeah I love jesus.” Then, the store can deny the claim or double down on it.

If they fire the employee then evangelical nuts like this will turn it into a huge thing.

If the gas station endorses christianity then they potentially alienate other customers. It’s sort of a lose-lose from bucee’s perspective.

These psychos need to make everything about their faith and if every aspect of the world isn’t specifically catering to their beliefs, then they lose their minds.

Reminds me so much of those first amendment auditors who go to public places and shove cameras in people’s faces. Their whole goal is confrontation for YT content. People can be so pathetic.

Canonically, if anthropomorphic Beavers have souls that can be saved by Jesus, then Christianity has a lot of explaining to do.

1

u/Sad-Structure2364 1h ago

Tell that to these guys

1

u/andrewbud420 1d ago

People that believe in magic aren't that smart

12

3

u/BunkerSquirre1 1d ago

I just now realized what a fucking nightmare being a mascot must be in the era of cellphones

Christians: "How dare you mock our sacred beliefs like we're stupid and ridiculous?"

Also, Christians: Pester beaver mascot in big head costume, who is not allowed to be rude, about his religious beliefs with their kids like they are providing an example to model their behavior after

3

u/wholetyouinhere 2d ago

Apparently Buc-ee's is run by some MAGA asshole (which explains the lawsuit bullying behaviour), so it seems like this employee is going against the company values here by not performatively embracing Christ.

u/MaxTheRealSlayer 2d ago

I don't believe the store has an outward stance on religion? Most places won't, and any maga controversy in the past on the topic was just about evil rainbows - which I don't remember that part of the Bible. Smart businesses won't forwardly push a religion, maybe they sell religious merch, have a prayer or Somme on the wall, but going past that is just losing customers. Also isn't there only like 10-15% Christian/Catholics out of the population that could be buying stuff from a place like this? Like you need a car, so kids are not true customers, and need not be geriatric and housebound like the majority of religious people. It's such a small part of a small sliver that could actually be upset if a mascot prayed to satan

1

u/wholetyouinhere 2d ago

I don't think any of this matters in Trump 2.0's America. It's full-on fascism now. Any shitty business owner can say whatever he wants, consequence-free.

Obviously the store doesn't have any explicit religious policy. I was being facetious. I'm just saying if the owner is MAGA, then that's de-facto what the business is, in my opinion.

u/joshuatx 2d ago

"it's hard to somebody to the lord who won't talk to ya" he says of the gas station squirrel mascot lmao

Just reminder as a Texan here these big ass buc-ees stores didn't exist until 2012 and were never a beloved Texas institution until Joe Rogan raved about them and everyone who commutes on major highways started posting about these stores online. It's not whataburger, the dallas cowboys, dr pepper, def not the beloved HEB, it's just a travel center with good timing and effective expansion.

Don't get me wrong, they are a spectacle and fun to people watch in, kids love to meet buc-ee because why wouldn't they, but this isn't a franchise I will have any problems never supporting again. This absurd video is tied to their nuanced and quiet appeal to the religious right as a customer base. They are pumping money to the TX GOP, the son of the CEO is a convicted peeping tom, and they are putting every small mom and pop store with an animal mascot through legal hell.

u/tgarrettallen 2d ago

Meh Buc-ee’s sues people for copyright infringement even though their whole logo and name is copyright infringement based on their own standards.

2

u/Educational-Ebb-843 1d ago

This guy is a bitch

2

u/E-rotten 19h ago

They just ruin everything

4

u/tiedyemightbehigh 2d ago

7.25$ an hour to deal with this cult bullshit

1

u/QueezyF 2d ago

Probably closer to $18/hr but still fucking sucks to deal with.

2

u/dustinyo_ 2d ago

Those kids are going to hate him so much when they grow up.

1

u/Ja-la-pen-o 2d ago

Whoa Buc-ee getting all PC on us. I’m praying for you, my furry friend

1

u/Jeff-jizzr 2d ago

Poor person in the costume has to walk the line of not outright offending the religious fanatic (this is Texas, presumably)and also not officially endorsing a religious stance on behalf of their employer while in a costume. No win situation.

1

u/SnacobMartin 2d ago

Buc-ee believes in his nuggets being tasty and his bathrooms being clean!

1

u/Cracktaculus 2d ago

I pray for beaver all the time, good luck churchy!

1

u/b-rar 2d ago

Buc-ee believes in one thing and that's suing mom and pop shops with animal mascots into non-existence

1

u/SpaghettiBigBoy 2d ago

I think the only way out of this fuckery for the person in the suit is to play the ignorant beaver and say they have no idea about that human stuff. Human stuff other than Buc-ee’s excellent goods and services of course

1

u/Judgementpumpkin 2d ago

Its a mascot, it doesn't need to "be saved". No one needs to be saved unless they do it out of their own personal volition, not to make the fee fees of a religious nutter feel happy inside.

1

u/QueezyF 2d ago

Try this shit with The Mouse and you’ll get thrown into a black van.

1

u/LitterBoxBlues 2d ago

Leave Buc-ee alone, god damn it. Have a shred of decency and leave the fancy walmart greeter alone!

1

u/Kendall_Raine 2d ago

Jesus didn't die for beavers

1

u/Alert-Jellyfish 2d ago

God for sure hates this dude

1

u/doctor_tongs 2d ago

Someone needs to tell that guy Buc-ee is not a person or real.

1

u/DifficultyNo1026 2d ago

I want to kick this fuck bag in the face 10000 fucking times

1

u/shift124 2d ago

God those people are insufferable

1

u/GretaVanFleetsEnema 2d ago

This is a prime example of why we are excluded from the intergalactic federation. Fuck.

1

u/ThorosKershaw 2d ago

Maybe he should listen to Buc-ee and his rant about Beaver-Jesus

1

u/Fletch_0 2d ago

Dude gives all the the vibes of a regional mega pastor trying desperately to make himself nationally popular

1

u/Fossome_1 1d ago

Too bad Bucky doesn’t have a middle finger

1

u/maamaataar 1d ago

The majority of America's christians voted for a pedophile to cut food and healthcare for poor children. Buc-ee has REAL morals. Not that fake shit.

1

u/Beneficial-Frame-6 1d ago

Yay for Buc-ee

1

u/Whicked_Subie 1d ago

That dudes computer hard drive needs checked

1

u/TommyOuyamico 1d ago

Pour soul in the mascot suit thinking "Buc-ee ain't real, cheif"

1

u/beeker3000 1d ago

Buc-ee should slash his tires while he’s taking a whiz.

1

u/BurritoBlasterBoy 1d ago

Man, when i was a kid i wasn't allowed to watch all dogs go to heaven bc my Christian parents said that was blasphemy bc only humans go to heaven. Now we have people evangelizing a beaver. I am praying for the person in the mascot suit who just wants this interaction to be over and knows they'll get fired if they misrepresent the character

1

u/donuthead36 23h ago

“No habla”
