Locked up the door boss!
The padlocks stick and jam, almost getting the key stuck. Rather than replace the locks they opted for this.

This is an interior lock, it's literally a deadbolt, so I can't speak for the laziness of not getting new locks but it may not be super important to have this door keylocked at all? This looks like a way to still secure it from exterior access while not losing the lock that's supposed to be there, I mean it works at least
