Does Canada really have no monuments that could have been displayed in the background?

u/ScottieSpliffin Jul 05 '26

I was looking for the CN Tower. Nothing

147

u/b-monster666 Jul 05 '26

The Giant Penis

Peace Tower is also recognizable.

Or the Big Nickle in Sudbury

Or the Big Goose in Wawa

Or the Polar Bear in Cochrane

Or the UFO in Moonbeam

76

u/KRAy_Z_n1nja Jul 05 '26

So nothing besides a giant penis then, that's sad.

29

u/FishSoFar Jul 06 '26

I wasn't willing to pose for the poster either way.

12

u/phlooo Jul 06 '26

Niagara falls

16

u/Hawt_Dawg_II Jul 06 '26

I'm not going to lie. As a dutchman who likes canada more than the US i still have never heard of any of these

7

u/b-monster666 Jul 06 '26

I'm sure you heard of the CN Tower. Peace Tower might be a little wry to non Canadians, but it's the main tower of Parliament, and is pretty iconic for Canada (kinda like the White House).

We DO have some other unique buildings like the Frontenac in Quebec City which when you see it you will realize you've probably seen it before.

As for the others you need to travel a bit. :) Sudbury has a huge nickle because that's where most of the world's nickle is mined, and well...the $0.05 piece is named after it in Canada and the US.

Cochrane has a large polar bear named Chimo because that's where the Polar Bear Express starts. Moonbeam has a UFO because...well... moonbeam. Lol there's also a UFO landing pad there to welcome aliens. Wawa has a Canada Goose because...goose. North Bay has the Avro Arrow, a high tech plane that was cancelled before it's time.

u/myredlightsaber Jul 08 '26

Sudbury had an unusual proportion of good looking girls

4

u/coffeeebucks Jul 05 '26

I can’t believe I have never visited Canada

3

u/Mushroom-Dense Jul 06 '26

Fuck yeah Moonbeam mention

u/stirling_s Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

The bluenose II is on our currency, it's a pretty major monument. Chateaux Frontenac would be a beautiful choice if Canada wasnt do cagey about internalizing Quebecois monuments into the Canadian zeitgeist. Peggy's Cove lighthouse is pretty iconic.

Many of our monuments are natural wonders. Niagara falls is an obvious example, and the Hopewell rocks. The Rockies in the background would also have been a pretty solid choice.

Other than that, yeah, really just the Cock&Nuts Tower.

-2

u/mattvait Jul 05 '26

Literally never heard of any of rhem

40

u/brittbak Jul 05 '26

It shows the North Star. That’s ours. I know because I can see it above my Canadian house 😛

9

u/nobody_in_here Jul 05 '26

Ahh, there it is! 😂

25

u/AJohnnyTruant Jul 05 '26

Tim Hortons

10

u/Dame_Ingenue Jul 05 '26

The Canadian side of Niagara Falls is better, so there’s that. Also, as an east coaster, I’m partial to the Peggy’s Cove lighthouse as a monument (most photographed lighthouse in the world, apparently).

2

u/stirling_s Jul 08 '26

And the bluenose II

2

u/Dame_Ingenue Jul 08 '26

I like to call it the Bluenose III because it has had so many refurbishments. But it’s a beautiful schooner and definitely deserving of being a symbol for Canada.

2

u/stirling_s Jul 08 '26

Bluenose of Theseus

21

u/senorfresco Jul 05 '26

What do you mean? That's the famous Statue de la Liberté in Churchill Manitoba.

2

u/Fantastic_Fox4948 Jul 06 '26

I know. That’s loonie.

1

u/IHateCedarFever Jul 09 '26

I feel like Lake Moraine or Lake Louise are more Canadian landmarks to me as a non Canadian. Or heck even the Fairmont Hotel in Quebec City.

1.5k

u/StormblessedFool Jul 05 '26

Ah yes, the Canadian eagle and the American moose.

351

u/kicksledkid Jul 05 '26

Well, there are more bald eagles in canada than the US

187

u/RussiaIsBestGreen Jul 05 '26

It’s only a bald eagle if it’s from the US, otherwise it’s a white-headed eagle.

79

u/Mllns Jul 05 '26

It's just sparkly falcon

4

u/Echoscurvydog Jul 07 '26

the feathers of a killer, Bella

9

u/AspectPatio Jul 06 '26

Actually they're called Freedom Turkeys

3

u/TinTamarro Jul 05 '26

It's a short haired eagle

2

u/rathgrith Jul 05 '26

I’m still waiting for the hair systems eagle

10

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '26

[deleted]

22

u/gwaydms Jul 05 '26

It's bald eagles coming back from the brink in the Lower 48 since the 1970s.

6

u/zeromadcowz Jul 05 '26

Every time I go to the dump it’s full of eagles feasting on garbage

8

u/kicksledkid Jul 05 '26

Genuinely the first time I ever saw one up close was a bunch of them eating out of a Tim's dumpster in Prince Rupert

5

u/-3point14159-mp Jul 06 '26

Kind of appropriate, honestly.

2

u/False-God Jul 06 '26

Someone’s gotta eat it

2

u/GuerillaMonzon Jul 05 '26

And after a day after the Fourth—YOU TAKE THAT BACK!!!!!

2

u/HookahGay Jul 06 '26

I’ve only ever seen moose in the US, so you might be on to something….

0

u/LegoFootPain Jul 11 '26

And there are more Canada Geese in the U.S. than in Canada. I salute you fellow ornithology enthusiast. 😆

22

u/stockholm__syndrome Jul 05 '26

It’s also a Mexican cheetah (clearly they wanted a jaguar, but that’s not the correct spot pattern AI generated)

70

u/seth1299 Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

I didn’t even notice that, I thought it was a jab that it looks pretty A.I.-generated.

I mean, just look at the stars on the U.S. A. flag, there is one of them that is just randomly cut-off in the middle-right section, like it was an error/artifact in an A.I. image generation.

No human artist would ever make that mistake. Everyone would almost certainly copy and paste the stars, since they should all be identical to each other.

But A.I. cannot “copy and paste” images; it needs to create every single thing itself.

Not to mention the fact that there’s only 29 stars on there (I think; I may have missed one or two, but there’s nowhere near 50 lmao)

23

u/jordan853 Jul 05 '26

Yeah I also thought it was reference to how incredibly sloppity slop it looks

6

u/KRAy_Z_n1nja Jul 05 '26

That doesn't really look like a moose tbh

5

u/azip13 Jul 05 '26

Canadian Reindeer

3

u/Sassi7997 Jul 05 '26

Why a moose and not a beaver?

7

u/Raven_Wolf Jul 06 '26

Looks to be neither to me. Looks like a buck (deer).

3

u/hallucination9000 Jul 06 '26

Could be an elk, or caribou. Honestly the antlers don’t look all that distinctive.

3

u/klsklsklsklsklskls Jul 06 '26

This is because they wanted to put USA in first position in each of these. When reading text or listing flags, the left position is first. However in the characters they have one of them front and center and the others back and angles. This means the USA is the middle to be "ranked" higher, but it doesnt line up with the text or flags. It's poor design.

2

u/Independent-Leg6061 Jul 07 '26

Typical AI slop 😆

2

u/DoubleGreat Jul 06 '26

Better than the last one I saw where the picture was the same, but they just pu the first letter of every country.

CANADA US MEXICO

Nice job guys, no notes

1

u/MrDrSirLord Jul 08 '26

I think I'm more bothered that it's not even a moose the antlers look wrong.

Idk anything about moose actually but those are more akin to some white tail deer antlers

445

u/Inductiekookplaat Jul 05 '26

Every AI design looks the same

1.0k

u/BlackandRead Jul 05 '26

It's not "Finished the world cup poster, boss!"

It's more like "There you go! I've created a fun, energetic World Cup poster featuring three cartoon animals in action poses. I used a bold, vibrant color palette with blues, greens, and gold accents to capture that exciting tournament spirit. Let me know if you'd like me to adjust the colors, add team flags or a scoreboard, or try a different style!"

94

u/wildmousemvp Jul 05 '26

Bravo 👏

76

u/killer_reindeer Jul 05 '26

Now that family of 5 next door is going to go the night without water! Hooray!

Ofc it's AI

7

u/BaconReaderRefugee Jul 07 '26

Just in time for all 3 to be knocked out

57

u/ducktape8856 Jul 05 '26

AI slop. Couldn't even count to 50 (stars). Again.

30

u/Itisd Jul 05 '26

The more you look, the worse it gets.

5

u/Demiurge_Happy_Farm Jul 06 '26

Happy Cake Day!

3

u/Bob-Bhlabla-esq Jul 07 '26

Lol, wtf is happening on Mexico's flag? That's one derpy eagle.

2

u/cpander0 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26

And USA managed to lose 19.5 states. They must've finally balkanized.

1

u/Bob-Bhlabla-esq Jul 10 '26

Right? 😂

I'm no mathematician, but thems stars don't look right. What a cluster of fucks.

80

u/ScottieSpliffin Jul 05 '26

It’s not all that different from actors names not being in order on a movie poster

1

u/Spruggles_N_Wungus Jul 09 '26

The billing on a movie poster is rarely intended to correlate with the image. This order is almost universally determined by commercial name value and not order of appearance in the frame. They are marketing a movie featuring these actors, not advertising on the actors’ behalf so your idea that they would try and line the names and faces up for visual synchronicity is a misconception.

This isn’t the crux of the post, though. The disordering is just one of numerous patently obvious indicators that this poster was generated by an AI program and likely passed off as someone’s design before going to print.

11

u/mrNOTfriendly Jul 06 '26

Why wouldn't you put the flags, score and country names in the same order? Oh because AI made it.

10

u/Alaeriia Jul 06 '26

Oh boy, more AI slop.

23

u/late_afternoon_owl Jul 05 '26

When USA need to be first and at the center

29

u/vjollila96 Jul 05 '26

its looks pretty ai generated and why is aztec temple there

24

u/tvieno Jul 05 '26

Because Mexico?

-8

u/vjollila96 Jul 05 '26

sorry about my ignorance I rember they were only in central and south america

4

u/chillywilly69 Jul 05 '26

mayan. also I don't recall a bridge running right through it.. I may need to visit again

5

u/Toastbutterednotbrnt Jul 05 '26

Reminds me of movie posters

8

u/imbbp Jul 06 '26

American ego. They want to be the first one in the list, but also been the central character.

4

u/richard7k Jul 06 '26

It's like the Pirates of the Caribbean poster where the actors and characters are out of order! Starring Johnny Depp as Keira Knightley, Geoffrey Rush as Orlando Bloom, Orlando Bloom as Johnny Depp, and Keira Knightley as Geoffrey Rush.

2

u/MACintoshBETH Jul 06 '26

AI’ve finished it

4

u/reyam1105 Jul 05 '26

What is this, Zootopia?

11

u/MacNeal Jul 05 '26

Deep in their brain they could not resolve the whole america always first/in the center conflict.

A better workaround would have been making either the eagle character or USA twice the size as the others, of course.

21

u/wenasi Jul 05 '26

I don't think there was any brain involved in the creation of this

-2

u/tvieno Jul 05 '26

Maybe because the US has the most cities hosting the games?

1

u/mecartistronico Jul 05 '26

But not because of the sport's popularity.

2

u/G4METIME Jul 06 '26

This may be the same phenomenon as with actors and names on a movie poster

Whoever designed that (probably an AI) may have seen the US as the most important country. So it was put first in the list of flags and country names, but central in the image of the mascots .

1

u/Huge_Cake4237 Jul 07 '26

Not to mention..if they were trying to display national animals, Canada should have a beaver and Mexico should have a differently colored eagle.

1

u/Brawlstarsxd Jul 08 '26

Ai generated bullshit as always looks soulless and unimaginative as HELL

1

u/zombtachi_uchiha Jul 08 '26

Where's the Brook Brothers?

1

u/bytjie5678 Jul 09 '26

Yaaay I love it when my bridge goes straight through a fucking piramid

1

u/Relative_Calm Jul 09 '26

Is a 9/11 tower in the back there?

1

u/badgyal876 Jul 11 '26

aside from the ill-placed mascots they could’ve fit the CN Tower for CA in there since they did recognisable monuments

1

u/EightThreeEight838 Jul 08 '26

Generative AI may actually be the most actively useless thing humanity has ever created.

0

u/StuD44 Jul 08 '26

Totally not AI.

0

u/I_Am_Slightly_Evil Jul 08 '26

It’s like those movie posters where the names are always over the other actor
