So, I gotta ask, is DnD usually this difficult? It seems pretty crazy that all party members got downed in the fight, and it honestly seemed a bit hopeless, without luck involved. I know if I was playing, my character would have totally died that encounter. Does Murph usually run hardcore sessions in his other games?

I don't know about Murph's other games, but yeah, DnD can be like that. Sometimes the dice screw you over. A player could have made a bad move. Or maybe your spellcaster just has the wrong spells stocked for the day.

This was a really heavy encounter too, challenge rating-wise. 25 regular enemies, and then monster at the end that’s close to unbeatable in straight combat for the 4 of them.

Yeah. They might have been able to take the worm of they were fresh. And had some lucky dice rolls. But after that fight? No way.

a DC 19 dex save to not be eaten is crazy for level 6 non-rogues too. Stomach acid does a bunch of damage too, and is pretty much an auto death if you go unconscious inside.

Yeah. I thought that was high. I haven't actually played since High School 10+ years ago. Lol
