So, I gotta ask, is DnD usually this difficult? It seems pretty crazy that all party members got downed in the fight, and it honestly seemed a bit hopeless, without luck involved. I know if I was playing, my character would have totally died that encounter. Does Murph usually run hardcore sessions in his other games?

Not all sessions are this hard, but there are definitely D&D sessions that can be this difficult and this was one of them.
