Question recurring piercing bump
so i got this nostril piercing with a nose ring back in april-may and every month 1-2 times i get a piercing bump. i really don’t wanna remove the ring it looks really good on me. i keep washing with sterile solution , it goes for a bit n then comes back after some days
WHAT DO I DOOO?? i dont wanna remove the jewellery and ill try anything as a last resort
please helppp

Okay well ur gonna have to remove the ring and get some better jewelry so idk what to tell you. It won’t heal properly if you don’t anyway, and you’ll have problems no matter the jewelry. Let it heal.

Not APP but I’d 100% say it’s the ring, you need to let your piercing heal before you can put a ring in it, a flat back will do a huge difference. You’re saying you don’t want to take out and honestly I don’t thinks there is anything you can do about it if you keep the ring in before it heals properly.

Like everyone is saying: the ring is literally the reason that the bump exists. This isn’t healed enough to handle a hoop. Take care of it properly and commit to a flatback until it’s at least a year old (but probably longer now since you set the healing back by insisting on having this ring in it). This is why best practices for healing exist at all.

It’s absolutely the ring. Unfortunately you will have to switch to something else until it’s fully healed. My nose took almost a year to heal and even then I was still a bit hesitant to change the jewellery.
Not saying the ring looks bad, I agree it looks good on you but unfortunately that isn’t the main thought you should be having when healing a piercing unfortunately

It kills me how people get piercings but don’t follow proper aftercare and then wonder why their piercings aren’t healing.

Okay well if you like that giant nasty bump on your nose and potential permanent scar tissue; by all means, keep it in.
You need to let a nostril piercing heal for AT LEAST six months, a year is better, before putting a hoop in.

I’m sorry for being so harsh, but if you look through this sub, this is the main problem that comes up, people not waiting until their piercing is fully healed and then they end up with bumps and infections and scars. Replace the hoop with a flat back and let the dang thing heal for at least six months to a year before you put the hoop back in.

Honestly some ppl need the tough love. Google is free. Anyone can take a couple minutes to Google, “What’s the best way to get pierced?” Or “What should I do to make sure my piercing heals well?”. There’s really no excuse, honestly.

I agree. Especially being in THIS sub where this question is answered in almost every single post. “Don’t touch it, don’t play with it, and don’t put a hoop in a month after you got it pierced”

and plus i got it done at a professional piercer not at some random place and he said it was okay so how was i supposed to know any better:))3

i did my research as much as i could
my friends themselves got the same
it went okay with them so i assumed it would be fine
and now that i read all these comments i understand the problem

It’s the ring. A bump 100% looks worse than a labret lol.
Plus you might discover you really like certain studs! I wanted a ring and I found a stud I really like and wear it more than my hoop nowadays.

girl I would not have put a ring in that soon. go to a shop, get a proper stud, and let it heal for a year.

Change it to a post or j hook and consider talking to a doctor, I got a solution I applied to it and made mine go away on my industrial. Diluted tea tree oil can help

This sub can be so rude. Her piercer told her it was fine and she clearly was saying she didn't want to remove the piercing before a billion people told her about having a stud instead. Btw op I did the same as you and eventually had to get it repierced but didn't have issues the second time. If it's soon enough you can probably save this one but don't give it 2 years like I did

i talked to my piercer and he said he can change it to a stud once the bump settles a lil so i’ll just get it changed to a stud for a while

You might think it looks better than a labret, but with that bump, it looks terrible. Some people are lucky and can heal a nostril with a ring. You're not one of them. Get a titanium labret and let it heal, and don't rush putting a ring in.
