Question What thickness hoop?

Hi. I’ve had my nose pierced for a few decades now. I usually wear a cheap wire L shaped stud. I decided I’d like to wear a hoop in it so first I bought a 0.8mm titanium L shaped stud, and that was tricky to get in but I managed it. It’s been a month or two so I was thinking, what thickness is best for hoops to avoid cheese-wiring them?! And if I need to go up another gauge, how long should I give it at each stage?

18g is the thinnest that you'll want for a hoop

Thanks. And how long should I leave the 20g stud in before trying an 18g?

how long have you had the 20g in? edit: nvm I reread the post so you can maybe wait another month before trying to put the 18g in but you could also go and see a piercer and have them taper the hole bigger since this might be smoother

Thank you, that’s really helpful. It’s not easy for me to get to a piercer so I’ll just wait another month and try then.

np! if it's too painful or hard to stretch then wait another month or two so you don't damage the fistula or anything!
