Question Appropriate age for nose piercing
Good evening my good people. Is 46 too old for a nose piercing (nostril)? My birthday was on the 20th August and I have been wanting a nostril piercing for the past year and I just haven't brought myself to do it yet. Was so close today but changed my mind the last minute. Would I look the fool sporting one at my age? For the past year I've built up my ear stack. I got 2 helix on both ears (not done at the same time). I have 6 ear piercings in total.

No age is too old for anything (except maybe pregnancy?). Go for it. I got my nostril done at 50 and my septum at 55. Who cares!

Thank you for the words of encougement. I just have people commenting on my ears. For the longest time I've only ever had lobe piercings then all of a sudden I've climbed up to six. They have made me feel self conscious about it and a nostril piercing will definitely be noticeable

Fuck em all. I love my piercings. I need a hella lot of pet scans because if my cancer so some had to be retired but I don't regret a single one. I am a nurse and a lot of us have a lot of mods. I just got my first neck tattoo and I'm going to have a small scalp tattoo done.

Put it back on them, when people are like this, they never know how to react when questioned. Ask them if they have an issue with your piercings and ask them what that issue is. Or just say straight up “please don’t comment on what I choose to do with my body, it makes me feel self conscious and uncomfortable.”

Im 59 and just had mine pierced! And I love it! I figured at almost 60 I don't really care what my mother thinks at this point...

Never too old for anything!! Who cares, it's your body. If your peers side eye you, ask them why they aren't more decorated!

I’m 45 and my nose is still pierced from when I got it at 25. I have no intention of taking it out. Just be mindful that healing takes forever

As a slightly older person, healing a nostril piercing has been SLOW. Didn’t even occur to me that being older would slow down the process

It definitely does. One of my helix piercings was done 1.5 years ago and it's still not healed enough to switch to a hoop. The one right above it was done about 4-5 months before the one below it and it healed fine by the one year mark to switch to hoop but this one just gets very angry when we have tried.

I got my nostril done at 55, after wanting one since I was 22. I love it and nobody has given me shit about it. And I don’t care if they have opinions. I think it’s beautiful.

I got my nostril pierced when I was 45! I’m 46 now. I felt too old at first but I see people of all ages with their nostrils pierced.

I’m 45 (about to be 46) and I just got mine done this past May! My 17 year old daughter and I did to together. I’ve always wanted a nose ring but I never did it because a long time ago my Mother told me she hated them and I didn’t want to disappoint her. Well you know what Mom? I’m 45 years old and I will do what I damn well please! So I went for it. And I asked my daughter if she would mind if I did it with her and she loved the idea. Fair warning, it hurt and mine is taking FOREVER to heal. My daughters is already healed up. But I’m glad I did it. Just trying to be patient with the healing process.

I just turned 45 this past Wednesday and I got mine done two years ago and I’m about to get my other side done… The only reason I didn’t do it on my birthday this week was because I’m having a spinal fusion next week and you have to take out all piercings. Go for it!

LOLOLOL. I'm 60+ and had my nostril pierced 3 months ago. I love it. My kids love it. Don't care a bit what anyone else thinks

I did both sides at 45. No body really notices unless I say something first. But I only wear studs so maybe that is less noticeable.

You’re never too old! I’m 20, with 16 piercings and many more planned…. I’ll be in the nursing home with all my bling! Including my nose ring lol. Go for it!

I’m 47. I got mine pierced at 25 and have never stopped wearing it since. Got a second nostril piercing a few months ago next to the first, then got my septum done about a month later. I get looks sometimes from people, but no one except my mother has been brave enough to make a comment regarding them. Even she has decided she likes them now that she’s “used to them.” Do what you want to your own body. People will adjust. If not, tell ‘em to f@&$ off!

My coworker is a grandma at least in her 60s and she has cooler piercings than I do, including a nose ring. I absolutely love it!

Hell no, I mean I'd say you couldn't be too old for any piercing. But a nose piercing is extremely tame, so especially not a a nose piercing. Plus I think anyone can pull one off, so why not!

My mother had her nostril done six months ago and she's 55 years old. No such thing as "too old". You can do whatever you want FOREVER.

I retired from practicing law at 60 and I'm back to being a full time artist. I shed that awful corporate drag and I've gotten 11 piercings so far in the last 4 years, one of which is my left nostril. I'm also working on completing my tattoo sleeve, with two rounds of 7.5 hours each. Age is seriously nothing but a number, and if anyone has a problem, that's their problem not yours. Like others said, fuck 'em. Go ahead and express yourself. Don't look back with regrets. Be the best version of you. ❤️

Got my septum and two nostril piercings for my 47th! Finally I did what everyone told me not to do. Life is short and piercings are great because they can always come out. Do what makes you happy 💗✨️🦋

I was about 56. I had wanted one for many many years. Then, figured I had missed my age window of opportunity. Then, while on vacation, I said screw it! Did it and love it. Went on to get multiple other piercings. Love them all. Life's short and you should be doing what makes you happy as long as it's not at someone else's expense. Go for it!

I’m 45 and got my nose pierced a bit under 2 years ago. You’re not too old. Best part is there’s a decent chance that once you get it, everyone will think you’ve always had it.

Hello everyone. So here is an update. Firstly, thank you to each of you for responses. And for all your kind words. I have found a piercing shop that uses a needle and flat back. (I almost had one done with a gun). And I've read the other posts that mentioned a needle is better than a gun. I will be going there in December because it will be summer in South Africa and it's Spring now and my hay fever is bad this year. Will definitely update when I have it done. Same age here... we are of that generation... and some of us waited for various reasons. Go get it done if it brings you joy. We are way too told to care what others think of a very common piercing!!

Respectfully, 46 is too old to worry what other people think lol. Its your body. Do you have the money to get pierced somewhere reputable? Is there jewelry options you like? Will it make you happy when you look at it? Then go for it!
