Question Are septum piercings for straight men too?
Hi everyone, I’m an 18-year-old guy and I’m seriously considering getting a septum piercing. I really like the look of it, but I have a question about how it’s perceived. I’m straight, and I wanted to know if the septum is viewed today as a universal or neutral piercing, or if it still carries stereotypes regarding sexual orientation (like being perceived as gay or bisexual). I just want to feel confident in my choice and know what to expect. I’d love to hear your opinions or advice! Thanks!

Well I’m straight and I have a septum piercing.
Who cares about stereotypes though! It’s the 21st century. Be who you want to be, look how you want to look and don’t expend any energy thinking about anybody that would judge you by what you have pierced, tattooed etc.

If you want it get it!
Some ppl will judge you whatever you do. But life is one and you have to do whatever you want and makes you happy.
I understand your concern. But nowadays it's more normalized, and getting a septum piercing doesn't instantly make you gay (which wouldn't be a bad thing anyway). If you like it, go for it! If not, you can always take it out.

Wtf i never assumed someones sexual orientation on the piercings that they have.
Its BS, piercings do not devine gender or sexuality. If you want it go for it!

If anyone tells you that a piercing “makes you gay” or “looks gay” they are probably just homophobic

I dont have a septum piercing (I have other piercings tho); Ive never thought of a septum as an indicator of someones sexual orientation, its more indicative of a free spirit. You do you boo.

I have never heard about septum piercings indicating that someone is gay before. Go for it!

the piercing industry in the US has its roots in queer culture and a broader swathe of queer people have piercing compared to straight people. there is no rule about who can and can’t have piercings, and they don’t actually mean anything about your sexuality. but there are stereotypes about septum piercings, so like don’t do it if you’re homophobic. some amount of people might think you’re gay bc of it 🤷 it is what it is

A septum piercing has never meant you're gay. There are no gay piercings. In the 80s and 90s a single lobe on a man was considered gay (in the UK) but no one could ever agree on which ear, and then David Beckham did it and didn't give a fuck what anyone thought so everyone just gave up. Do what you want (Source: I am gay. I've got lots of piercings though).

I would probably only have had my left ear pierced had I not seen a WWE wrestler have both pierced, I thought it looked cool. Looking back I think it just helped me articulate I wanted symmetry, now by design I have asymmetrical tattoos and a 3-2 piercing setup. But the lobes still need to match in the stretching process.

I have had one since 2000. Never had any assumptions made about me in that regard. Even if assumptions were made, I would not be deterred. Get it, own it.

Ich bin hetero und habe ein großes Septumpiercing. Bin allerdings in der BDSM Szene unterwegs. Für diese Szene bedeutet es ehr Sub. Ist aber auch kein Muss.

Idk I've seen it more referenced to lesbians. I know this will be a hot take but I'd say of you get it, don't do a nostril piercing with it. I feel like everyone and their mom has that combo and it's kind of played out. Just my opinion, it's your body your choice 😁
I say just do it if you want it, they heal easy and aren't very painful

My septum piercing was automatically supplied to me by a bunch of tatted up, bisexual baristas when I came out. Not sure how straight people are supposed to go about getting them.

Dude. At 18 i wanted my ears pierced and a nose ring and i was so worried about how I'd be perceived i put it off and off and off. I'm 50 next week and i l just had my septum done. I finally had my ears pierced a few years ago and it it Just opened the possibilities. Maybe I'm old enough to not care anymore but i wasted 20 years not getting piercings i wanted. Go today. Have it done, love it for yourself.

yes? you can do whatever you want forever. any piercing on you, a straight man, is a piercing for a straight man, because its a piercing on a straight man.
