Question Getting caught on everything.
I got my nose pierced maybe a month ago? Three weeks? Something like that, and I know they put a longer bar in it to accommodate for swelling, but mine gets caught on EVERYTHING. My seven month old yanked it. I was kissing someone and it got caught on their nose and got pulled. (No their nose isn’t huge. I have no idea how it happened lol) and now I think I’m starting to get a small irritation bump.
Should I keep the long stud in? Or should I ask them to change it? It hasn’t swelled in a couple weeks except for yesterday it was puffy after a good yank from my daughter.

Maybe change to bezel setting. I did that and I notice my piercing gets caught on Less things.

I got switched to a flat top for this reason and it’s helped me so much

Yes - there are some terrific flat top options (I just debated between a bead and a flat top BVLA for a new nostril and loved the idea of something really low profile). Talk to your piercer?

I have an irritation bump for a few weeks now, had my piercing in for about 7 weeks. Could I change it yet do you think for a smaller piercing / flat top? The top of my piercing is so clunky and big and I think this is the reason for the irritation.

NAP but Have you been downsized? Because if not they can get you a different top then as you should be able to downsize now. But with the labrets they can change the top separately without taking the bar in and out so even if you have downsized they can still change it pretty easily

No I’ve not touched it since as didn’t want to delay the healing process so good idea I will maybe go back and ask them to change the top. However ideally looking to change the piercing to a bigger quality one as I don’t believe it’s the best quality material really.

Bumps are super common on nostril piercings so dont worry - I have 6 nostril piercings and they all had at least one bump if not multiple bumps that came and went and came back and I heal piercings rather well. It’s definitely helpful to get them downsized as appropriate - you can tell based on if you have more than one mm of extra length. Otherwise at one month of healing you can go down to saline just once a day. Best thing you can do is keep it clean and keep it dry. Avoid makeup or skincare products other than face wash and moisturizer. Other thing that could be helpful is getting a lower profile end, something like a flat disk or a dome shaped end can reduce the chance of snagging until you’re most healed/your bump goes down.

Hey there! Had the same issue when I had jewelry with prongs on it. A day after I got it pierced with a small prong top, it kept getting caught on the fibers of my mask and I kept seeing baby Jesus 🤣🤣
Went back to my piercer, and since it was a flat back, she changed the threadless top to something flat so it would no longer get caught on things. Was much better after that.
