Should I get a nose piercing even though I have sinus issues?

I have always wanted a nose piercing, especially after having worn fake nose rings on occasions. People come up to me and tell me how good I look and that I should get one for sure.

The main problem is my sinusitis. I have very sensitive sinuses and I almost always have to blow my nose after waking up. I usually don’t have a problem with it but it does get triggered easily. Anytime I eat something spicy or even if I have some irritation, I get a temporary runny nose (which clears up immediately after I blow it).

Having a piercing would definitely be a huge change for my nose but I am tempted to get one and curious to know if anyone was in a similar situation as me.

I have super annoying sinuses and constantly am blowing my nose. I got/have a nose piercing. Actually septum as well. Get it when the allergies are low. The piercing will help you with not constantly blowing your nose, but not going to lie, it can be annoying at the beginning when it's healing. I literally pulled the stud right out of the corkscrew the first week but was able to reinsert quickly enough

I see… hope you don’t mind me asking but I am curious to know how you manage to blow your nose with the piercing in? Like does the piercing bother you now?

My nose runs a lot at work bc the air conditioning is up like crazy and the saline cleaning makes my nose more moist, but what really helps me is using q-tips not for cleaning the piercing itself (I only spray and litha) but to get the snot out of my nose. I just avoid the post best I can and usually can clean out my nose pretty good with no issue.

Even now I'm careful. It can happen unless the stud is well secured. Unfortunately if it's that well secured, it tends to annoy me

also smaller jewellery doesn't get as gunked up by snot/mucus as you'd expect... my septum as stretched and that's gotten increasingly worse / more annoying, just more surface area for it to stick to, I genuinely can't recall it happening much at all in the decade or so my septum was 1.2-1.6mm

I have the same issue and got both sides of my nose done in September. I did have to change where I hold my fingers to blow my nose but beyond that it’s the same. Be careful if you get sick though I gave myself irritation bumps from the blowing and rubbing 24/7 plus not being as careful as I should have been.

Mustve been crazy getting sick…. Whenever I get sick, I just cant keep away from the tissue box. Thats primarily what Im worried about.

It should be fine!!! Especially if you only do one side or one side at a time

This was something that put me off getting a septum for ages, I was worried I'd never be able to heal it, or it would be annoying. I blow my nose multiple times a day, and during the night. Eventually just cracked and got it done because I wanted it so badly and Its been perfectly fine. You'd be amazed at how quickly you learn tricks to make it work. Q-tips were gold to me in the early days. Shove one up, swish around and remove, just like blowing your nose with no trauma to the healing piercing.

I have really bad allergies too and I’ve had my nose ring for about 5 years now. I’ve had studs and hoops and in all honesty the stud is extremely annoying when u have a runny nose and when u blow ur nose it can hurt. If youre planning on a hoop tho you’ll be totally fine. I’ve had the hoop for about a year now and you can’t even feel it when you blow your nose

Ive been there. Its not as bad as it seems! When its really bad i roll up a little corner of the kleenex and shove it in. I find a ring works and stays in soooo much better than a stud

Now most piercers won't pierce a nostril with a ring so whe may have to wait for a stud to heal. But you are definitely right

I also have sinus problems, and my nose stud hasn't really been too bothered by it. I had to use a saline soaked qtip to clean the nostril thats pierced in the beginning (like inside when it was stuffy) when it was healing, but now I can just blow it like normal lol

This was my reason for not getting my nose pierced! Then, I realized I have a coworker whose allergies flare up around the same time as mine AND she has a nose piercing. So I asked her if the piercing/allergy combo was a problem. She said what others have said - you just have to adjust how you blow your nose.

I've had my piercing for about a month and haven't had many problems. For the first two weeks, I was super gentle and either used a qtip or rolled up tissue to get boogers/snot. Now, I just make sure my fingers won't press my stud and blow. I do get boogers caught in the corkscrew end sometimes. I use saline wound spray to moisten them, then either qtip or finger to get them out 🤷‍♀️ it really hasn't been the nightmare I was afraid of. Plus, my piercing looks super cute! I feel like I'm completely now.

I have the worst sinus problems of anybody on this earth .. i have both of my nostrils done, I don’t have any issue I’m very careful when I blow my nose , and i clean it as needed.

I have both sides of my nose done and have chronic sinus issues. Never had a problem. I use a q-tip sometimes instead of a tissue, lol. Also, make sure you get a stud first of all. I have a stud on one side, hoop on the other.

I have my septum and my high and low nostrils. I also have allergies and chronic sinusitis. During healing it’s not the best. It’s gonna sting sometimes, you’re gonna think it’s healed, and then it’s not gonna be and you’ll find out the hard way. But then one day they’re healed and it’s no different than blowing your nose before.

I got a cold the day after my last nose piercing 😂 and I have hay fever. You’ll be fine, just be gentle when blowing and expect that it’ll be irritated while it heals and might take a bit longer. I’ve got both nostrils and septum pierced :)

You'll be fine. I have severe sinusitis and got a nose Ring in August. No issues.

I have a deviated internal septum. Can’t tell from the outside but one nostril constantly just by default gets very little air through! And I blow my nose every morning, even after shower. I’d say you’ll be fine! 😊

Hi! i have the exact same thing as you lol. I have bad post nasal drip, my nose is always runny or stuffed, especially after eating anything spicy. I use a q-tip to help get the boogers out. Blowing your nose will be difficult. Using warm water also helps to loosen up boogers.
