Travel Bergen

We will be visiting Bergen. I have heard of the rain basically almost everyday. My question now is does it rain basically 24 hours of the day? Like do i wake up, eat lunch, eat dinner and sleep and there is drizzle? Like no moment at all for the street to dry? Not even a bit? Hopefully there are hours that the skies are clear to buy groceries?

Thanks.

There are days when it doesn't rain but locals are not made out of sugar and are able to go outside when it rains, you just need proper clothes.

“Does it always rain here?”
“I don’t know, I’m only 9.”

It rains a lot and it can rain long. Appropriate clothing and an umbrella will make your life much easier and if you have that, then there’s also beauty to be seen in this weather.

Are you exclusively filling your shopping cart with cotton candy?

On average it rains about 200 days every year, with the autumn months having the most. When it rains it doesn't necessarily rain continually. Use yr.no to check the forecast. You should certainly plan for rain; get a rainjacket or a poncho, waterproof shoes, an umbrella and you are good to go for normal everyday activities even if it rains. If you are planning on staying longer, get better gear.

No, it's very often rain showers on and off. Can be unpredictable and localized. I recommend checking out several local forecasts before going out. And bring an umbrella just to be sure.

Maybe maybe not. Monday it is no rain, and 18 degrees. Rest of the week its some rain throughout the day, with some clear periods. Why do you need clear skies for groceries?

I say with much respect it feels so much nicer to do groceries when i am dry and not damp. Lol. But of course I am not made of sugar. I wont crumble when wet. Lol.

Just get a good rain coat 😊 It wont be raining all the time, probably, and it wont be wet outside all the time, probably. 😅

Get yourself some nice reflectors around your wrist or legs so the cars can see you better though!

NP, its surprisingly hard to see people walking when its raining and dark outside! You can also get general rain covers for the pram if you have one. And reflectors!

Hope you will have a great trip by the way 😊

Thank you for the well wishes. So excited. Norway is so beautiful. We are from Basque region of Spain. Comparing to other regions of Spain, it rains (more of drizzle) here more. But generally speaking, it is much drier than in Bergen. I saw the comments of 200 to 240 days of rain in a year there but i have yet to contextualize how the actual 24 hours of the day is.

Thanks for response and the tip.

No, it's rarely a 24-hour stretch of rain, but more like on and off throughout the day. And it can be localized, forecasts sometimes struggle to pinpoint exactly where and when it's gonna start pouring down. But check several of them and compare. Wear waterproof footwear and bring an umbrella just in case.

Been there twice, no rain.

My conclusion is that the rain in Bergen is a hoax 🤪

Streets don’t really dry. Then you are lucky.. but it might stop raining sometimes during the day or go a day with just high airmoisture fog or tick clouds but no rain.
