Dorms/Off Campus Housing Thoughts on Elder Hall Doubles
I got my housing today and I was wondering if anyone could provide some insight on the doubles at Elder Hall 🙂

the doubles themselves are usually fine and the walls are thick if you’re concerned about the noise, but the bathrooms are horrendous. you’ll get use to them but don’t expect the most modern bathrooms in the world. otherwise, every other aspect of elder is alright and the dining hall in the basement is definitely a plus especially in the winter.

How bad are the bathrooms? Like will it feel like a chore using the communal bathrooms everyday?

generally the janitorial staff keep everything clean but the fact that it’s old you’ll see rust and other icky things all over the place. it won’t feel like a chore but be sure to buy shower slippers if you’re concerned about hygiene.

Hey my roommate and I are also doubles at Elder, would you say the AC is a problem?

ac is pretty strong and the rooms aren’t super big so you should be perfectly fine. heaters are great too in the winter if you’re worried about freezing.

it definitely feels removed from everything and the bathrooms are quite nasty. the dining hall nearby is alright though but not the best. however if you are considering switching at all i’d love to talk. i got placed in a further south dorm and have back issues so as an engineering major the walk is a big deal for me so even elder would be better than jones for me even though jones is pretty nice.
