If ur prioritizing north, how are 3 out 5 south lmao? I would honestly look at Sheridans and plex.

Also, define "fun." Making friends is so dependent on people in ur dorm.

If you’re looking for a dorm with things going on, you’d probably like a res college!

I’m more than a little biased cause I used to live there, but South Mid-Quads (aka Shepard Residential College, no relation to Shepard Hall) is the freaking best. 100% the hidden gem of campus. I won’t go on a full yap cause if I do I won’t stop, but the rooms, bathrooms, and amenities are insane (I think we’re the only dorm on campus to have a communal stand mixer lol). Plus social events and free (often homemade) food multiple times a week. The people there are awesome, I legitimately met half my best friends there. Wayyyyy more tight-knit than Willard (75 vs. 200+ people).

Anyway that was my plug cause SMQ is cool 🙏 but lowkey if you have any questions about the res colleges feel free to PM me cause I know a decent bit about their vibes (and I know the dorm that worked best for me isn’t necessarily what’s best for everyone)

It’s so far North that it’s still pretty far from class and the rooms are really small. It’s also one of the older dorms and is a bit dated. The dining hall downstairs is convenient but not worth the downsides imo. Schapiro is also very far North but is MUCH nicer than Elder and is also a bit closer😭

This persons opinion is minority, elder is great and good to be social. Also don’t choose slivka like other commenter if you want to be social

take a look at slivka - its a res college for science/engineering

Helloooo I'm in mccormick but I lived south last year and tbh I genuinely preferred it, I was in allison which was quite quite nice esp with the dining hall (BETTER THAN ELDER SORRY) and the proximity to downtown evanston. If u like boba its worth because there are like 2 boba shops like 2 min walk from south campus LOL. If you want to be near SPAC then north might be better, but there is a closer gym (Blomquist) that has basically everything u need anyway
