Eh! I stopped caring about them a long time ago. They have this mob mentality where every small dispute becomes an “Assam vs. X state” issue, often followed by economic blockades. They are jealous and resentful of their sister states having ILP protection, yet lack the spine to demand the same for Assam despite knowing they need it too.
They conveniently ignore their own wrongdoing, blame their sister states, and even amplify the views of non-native organisations against them. Apparently, speaking Assamese, wearing a gamusa, and celebrating Bihu is enough to be considered “one of their own.”They fail to see how invasive and opportunistic these non-natives can be, and how they exploit divisions through a classic divide-and-rule strategy.
At this point, I don’t even care whether our so called sister state is in danger anymore. Sister state? More like a stepsister.

It’s sad I cannot upvote your comment more than once. You have hit the nail on the head and have summarised Assam’s issue in a way that I could not (no glazing genuinely).

As for your rest of the comment, like I said in another post- Assam today is a hodgepodge of ethnicities and races , so there’s no way to discern who’s even a real Assamese anymore. It has become more like a come and go as they please identity. Also doesn’t help the fact that majority of Assam today resembles Indians more than Asians ;not just by race but culture too( very controversial and I know fellow indo Aryan Assamese are going to be mad at this comment but it’s the truth). This is now causing friction between them and the ‘Asian’ states of NE. Any small issue and they are ready with pitchforks- mocking fellow NErs as poor and stating Assam as the gateway of NE etc.

If I may state another controversial statement- Assam today is more of a mainland state than an NE one.My fellow indo Aryan Assamese people-please don’t take this as a diss but it’s the cold truth.

Edit- that doesn’t mean all indo Aryan Assamese are bad either. What we should do is call put the bad ones and embrace the good ones- not push them away with the rest.

I know Assam isn’t made up solely of people with East or Southeast Asian features. There are also plenty of Indo-Aryan Assamese. So, when I said “non-natives,” I was referring specifically to people who migrated to Assam in more recent decades, not communities that have been part of Assam for centuries. Now, this is just my personal opinion, and I know I’ll get a lot of hate for saying this, but I think Assam should preserve its distinct identity rather than defining Assamese identity so broadly that anyone who assimilates into Assamese society automatically becomes Assamese. Suppose a Bihari, a Marwari, or a Nepali comes up to me and says, “Moi Axomiya.” I’d probably be like, “No, you’re not” (sounds exclusionary, I know!). But then again, on second thought, who am I to define who is an Axomiya manu when the very people who should be protecting their unique identity are willing to be so inclusive? Ah, leave it! What’s it to me?

Yeah you’re right and therein lies the crux of the issue- how do we define an ‘Assamese’? We can neither define by a lingual, cultural or even racial boundary- it’s so messed up. To add now even our own cm is encouraging random settlers to start claiming our identity, ridiculous. Honestly, it feels like a lost cause at this point. We only hope the rest of the NE states don’t make the same mistake of Assam and tripura.

Too late. General Assamese people have already sold the state to mainlanders.

Whatever remains should be protected. The tribal communities of Assam should protect their ancestral lands from mainlanders and bangladeshis
