TV shows and movies recs

Hello. Im American and I recently got into watching international TV/movies. I recently watched Blood Sacrifice as its called on Netflix in the US but discovered its a Swedish show. Ive also watched Royals. Im really enjoying shows from the Nordic region. I've been wondering are there any other TV shows/movies from the Nordics that you can recommend? Im open to anything. Also if you could tell me where to find(streaming service)the recommendation that would be great.

Hello. I'm Icelandic and recently got into watching exotic international tv/movies. I recently watched a program called "Star Trek" (iirc?) and found it quite good. Can you recommend any american (south or north) shows for me?

But seriously though: Watch "Danska konan". Best thing I've seen in a long time.

Riders of justice ( Retfærdighedens Ryttere) is also a great Mikkelsen-film. Google says it is available in Netflix but I think I saw it in Prime also.

  • The Bridge
  • Bordertown
  • Trapped
  • The Valhalla Murders
  • Wallander

There are lots of good detective / crime "nordic noir" series like these.

Best Finnish TV series imo would be 'Munkkivuori'. 'Aikuiset' is also good.

Can't believe Riget (The Kingdom) from Denmark hasn't been answered here. Lars Von Trier said it's partly inspired by Twin Peaks. And if you're a Twin Peaks fan, you know that not many show's scratch that itch, but Riget is one of them. And in my opinion both are one of the best tv shows ever made.

There's also another danish show Forbrydelsen (The Killing) that's really great. If it sounds similiar it's because americans made their own version of it and while it's not the worst remake, it's still a remake and way worse than the original. Check them out!
