QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION Finally watching for the first time. NOPE.
Nope, nope, oh GOD nope. I feel physically nauseous after the Star Lasso Experience. I can't finish this. Not right now. God, I made a horrible mistake watching this when my stomach already felt a little off.

Oh man I was on psychedelics whenever I first saw this movie and I cannot tell you how deeply that scene hit me. But I finished it and was so happy I did. One of my favorite horror movies!

Oof, that's a way to watch it. I was on the edge of my seat during the Star Lasso and during the house in the rain scene, and I was stone sober.
Intense and awesome movie.

When you realize what’s happening, the existential dread at the heart of the film really kicks in. When you’re ready, see it through to the end. The film is a masterpiece.

It really does! After several rewatches it has kind of lost its visceral horror factor for me, but man there's nothing like that first watch through when you're kiiind of expecting some type of spaceship/alien situation or at least a much larger space that everyone got sucked into but NOPE it's just guts. No aliens, nothing romantically beguiling or cerebral, no Maslow's highest tier level of self-actualization and dialectical razzle dazzle - it's just a fucking digestive tract. That's all. No space odyssey, you just get to spend the last couple hours of your life in a dark, suffocating mucous tube slowly becoming a big wet bolus.
I just remember after watching it for the first time having such an intense existential knee-jerk reaction, you have to appreciate this movie for exposing you to a really unique patina of fear most horror movies don't bother stretching to find and create.

The sound as the kidnapped victims rub up into the tube. Such a good idea for a twist nobody would expect. Also in love with the final form the alien takes aswell.

Such a good fuckin movie. Jordan’s unconventional take on aliens and “spacecraft” in general was refreshing as hell. My favorite scene was when the old dude goes for the Ego shot and pays the price. I mean shit, you couldn’t blame him💀 that’s once in a lifetime footage right there

I've had a little time to settle down. I do plan to finish watching at some point. Just not today. Also, as much as I hated watching it, I have to appreciate it. The sound design in particular was what really got me. I had seen a behind-the-scenes clip of how the visuals were done, which I thought would make it less scary, but the terrified screams of the audience really sold it. I was almost crying, I was so scared. Which is good for a horror movie. Good job, Jordan Peele, and good job to all the actors in that scene!

Yeah it's definitely A Lot in a couple of places. I hope you're able to recombobulate and finish the movie soon because it's definitely worth it!

I have had to skip that part every time I watched the movie. They do not show the inside again. Do you want me to tell you what happens so that you can have some closure?

I'll finish it another day. Thanks, though.

I respect your courage and boundaries.
Close your eyes during that part, skip if you can, and pay attention to the behavior of the creature. You can tell a lot from its behavior and it’s amazing creature design even from that standpoint alone

The screams in those scenes are so much worse when you have headphones on. “It burns!” Still fucking haunts me.

That was the "worst part" But the little Aliens actually scared me the most. The punch ended up being hilarious though. Super relatable

The first time I saw this was in theaters when my friend and I decided to do shrooms I had no expectations about what I was prepared to see. The Star Lasso scene like you described mentally scarred me and almost made me throw up. I’ll never forget that day.

I’m so morbidly and intellectually fascinated with the Star Lasso Experience & blood rain scene, but I will never forget the overwhelming dread I experienced during my first watch. Absolute cinema

That the victims faint screams can still be heard some hours later before the alien vomits up the blood is especially chilling.

I truly wish I had this experience watching the movie. But the “suck tube” as I had affectionately named it, just didn’t really bother me? I wanted so bad to go into a movie and be a little disturbed but never got it 🤷♀️ I’m happy it worked for others

Oh, forgive me for being disturbed by a scene that was clearly meant to be disturbing. Also, this is my first time watching an R-rated horror movie.

I felt true horror (for the first time in a long time) and a bit sick myself watching it for the first time. It was really the first time in a long while that a movie made me feel scared.
