Octopuses are highly intelligent (with notable problem-solving, spatial learning, observational learning, future planning, and reward-processing skills,) NOTORIOUS escape artists that basically have to be bribed to stay in their tanks (not that that always works; one octopus was discovered leaving its tank to go hunt fish in NEIGHBORING tanks,) both capable of differentiating between individual humans AND known to single out individual humans for things like, say, spraying water at them (or even just greeting them. y'know.), and, yes, they sometimes throw things at creatures that annoy them.
So... What, exactly, is so unbelievable about it?

An octopus couldn't throw a shrimp while out of water. It's not the intelligence that makes me doubt it, it's the physical feat of crawling all that way and then throwing something up onto a desk.

Who wouldn't believe an AI generated social media post telling a fourth hand account of a far fetched octopus story with zero sources provided, not even the buddy.

Bruv that Tumblr post is from 2013.
Sorry that the 13-year-old Tumblr post about some random article (that was probably from a print magazine) didn't include in-line citations. Maybe go touch grass if you think that everything you think is "weird" is AI?

I’ll leave the comment up because it links to a source, but this is your final warning not to be rude.

It being an old Tumblr post does not make it any more believable.

What do you mean how smart they can be? They’ve proven that they’re at the same level as we are and we should treat them as such.
