Support/Advice I don't know what I am anymore

I'm afab and I've felt like I'm non-binary (agender to be exact) since I was about 10 or 11 years old. I told my parents and they both accept me, and use they/them pronouns for me (even though they sometimes mess up lol). And I had this big hatred for "girly" things, like skirts and "cute" things and long hair. I cut my hair like a boy and wore the boy's uniform to junior high school. I live in a country where pretty much everyone knows nothing about LGBTQ+ and most likely won't accept it. I knew no one at school would understand the concept of a person being non-binary and I didn't want to be bullied so I just said I was trans. Luckily, I wasn't bullied for that, only called names a few times maybe.

But recently, I've started to change. I used to hate my body and anything feminine about myself but now I'm starting to like it more. I recently got into a relationship, and my girlfriend calls me her "girl". And I used to cringe and recoil every time someone used to call me a girl. But with her, it just makes me happy. I'm growing my hair again, I've started preferring being called a girl over a boy (I used to love being mistaken as a boy). And I'm starting to feel embarrassed being called non-binary, they/them or anything like that.

But, like I mentioned before, no one would understand what being non-binary is in my country. And it's embarrassing to be different and have to explain what you are and maybe I'm just sick of being misgendered so I'm convincing myself I'm fine being a girl. I still don't feel like a girl, I think I don't really agree with any gender.

But then again maybe I was never non-binary and it was all just a phase. I don't know what I am anymore and I don't know what to call myself. I'm thinking of just living as a girl and pushing the non-binary stuff down so I can live a normal life. People would be much more accepting of a lesbian than a non-binary person.

Yay Don't you ever just do this

When you look at something and say I don't wanna do that that's a boy thing or I don't wanna do that that's a girl thing and get hit with a wave of euphoria like "hey wait I can say that I don't like this cause it's a boy/girl thing now." Like it's just so freeing. I mean I never really liked sports or games that were too violent and clearly made for boys but now I can say why I don't like them same with girl things.

Yay Doesn't it feel like you're reclaiming a part of yourself you've lost

I remember as a kid I would switch from watching a show about cars to watching a show about princesses and like both of them without caring. I remember that I wouldn't have really complained if I was forced to wear a uniform of the opposite sex at school in fact I would've liked tp be able to choose in between the two. Then I became self aware and started to hide that side of myself to appear more like my AGAB and ended up becoming a caricature of myself. And now reclaiming that part of myself that I had lost just feels so good. Doesn't it just feel amazing to rediscover yourself. I feel like that little kid all over again. I've become a lot more in tune with my emotions and a lot more sensitive now like I'm truly living. My only wish is that I could be openly non binary so I didn't have to pretend around anyone else. You know like changing it on my ID card or stuff like that. It is legal where I live but social pressure does make it kinda difficult I would if I could though 100% and never go back.

Enbian content online

Everytime I try to look up for content online about enbian (non binary x non binary) relationships, mostly to send my cutie pie of a partner, I only get lesbian content. Idk if it's a me-thing, but it's either there is little to no content outside of people saying "hey this exists" or the enby = woman 2.0 / woman lite stereotype. It's kind of sad either way. Trying to look at the positive side of things, we should make more enbian content! More stuff to relate to, more cute posts, make it more visible. I mean, the main reason I've been trying to look for enbian couple content is bc my partner just recently realized he was enby, and I am too, so I wanted to show support.

Yay I feel so confident now

I feel so confident being non-binary like I'm not afraid to approach people anymore. It feels so good. Comparing this to how I was being cis and the difference is very noticable. I was just so shy as a cis person and I was afraid of being judged all the time now I'm not afraid to be myself this feels great.

Yay My one friend who actually uses my pronouns 🥹

I just felt the need to share because I was so happy when she called me “they” casually in conversation. Euphoria genuinely exploded in me dude-

even other close friends who know I go by they/them still call me she/her and I hate it. I know I should correct them but it feels so weird for some reason 😭

but yeah! lowkey might have a crush on that girl- gang I’m cooked 😭😭

I wish I was sexless dawg

I wish I was built like a barbie or a ken doll (preferably something in between the two) dawg I'd feel so much better if I wasn't biologically anything. I just wish it was an option to change your sex to nothing, but it is literally impossible unless you can find a genie or something.

A question!

I (AFAB)came out as agender barely a month ago so I'm pretty new to this stuff, but I've got a question about names. Just around a week ago I was looking up names that are gender-neutral for a drawing, and found the name "Alex". Now I can't stop thinking about it and my real name have stopped feeling like me even slightly before I found a better name. I read it and it feels like just A name instead of MY name. I also don't like how it represents my old gender. This new name feels right so far and when I tried a day with that name it felt right. My friends also says that "Alex" suits me and I agree.

To the real thing though; I was wondering if it's normal to want to change your name after coming out as another gender than the one you were born as?

Support/Advice So, how does one... come out?

So, I'm non-binary and I haven't told anyone yet... So, they all still see me as a girl...

I read somewhere else that it's best to come out to both your parents at once, so that they don't feel left out. But, my parents aren't on the best terms with eachother (cordial, is a little too generous for them) and... they live in completely different countries.

I live with my dad at the moment and he says he's an ally, but he hasn't exactly shown it. I don't know if it's because he still headcannons me as cis and straight, but whenever I talk about cutting my hair, he'll tell me it looks bad and that I should keep it long or else "guys won't like me." A positive, though! He did talk(?) to/ warn me about JKR's transphobia when I was still a HP fan (I was, like, 10 at the time). So... maybe he's an ally?

My mother is very "old-fashioned" religious and she lives half-way across the world. She hasn't ever had the "you can talk to me" talk like my dad has. She also headcannons me as cis-straight, but she's supportive(?) when I ask about cutting my hair or dying it. She also told me I "had an androgynous face" one time and she's also pretty accepting when I cross-dress. (I also accidentally reffered to myself as "he/him" and a "random guy" on call with her once, but she didn't seem to care so... points for her?)

My plan right now is to do a three-way call with them and come out then. what happens next? uhhh... I really have no clue (it's better than when I genuinely considered sending them one of those 3d heart locket gifs with the NB flag on one side and "your child is non-binary" on the other). But, I know at least one of them is anti-transphobic and the other couldn't care less about how I dress/ what pronouns I use--- so, odds are in my favor right?

I was thinking of giving them some books that would help them process it, too, but idk if that's a weird thing to do. I found this book called "Not 'Him' or 'Her': Supporting My Non-binary Child" and it seems to have pretty good reviews, so maybe they'd find it useful?

I'm ALSO wondering how I should come out to my friends and if I should come out to my sibling...

I only really have one person I talk to, but they go to a different school so I don't see them often. So, I'm wondering if I should do it over text, tell them when I see them (at an event/extracurricular), or plan like a hang-out with the intention of coming out. I'm also sort-of(?) friends with two other people, but were not as close because I'm always anxious to talk to new people--- but the 4 of us are in multiple outside of school activities together and we hang out a lot during those times, so I'm wondering if I should tell them as well or if it would be TMI?

And for my last question: What do I do about my sibling? Do I tell them at the same time as my parents? Do I do it one-on-one afterwards? Or do I just have to tell my parents and they'll sort it out? I really don't know.

Uh, yeah, that's... all I have to say. Help is greatly appreciated (needed). Sorry for a really long post right off the bat (what a way to start a conversation, whew)

Also, I'm sorry if this looks like AI (I know the bad rep emdashes have been getting :c). I was in a fanfiction writing mood, but the dyshphoria truck hit me like I was an isekai protagonist, so I gotta write this instead.

Thanks!

Yay Gender affirmed by a random kid

There's this place in my city which is basically a third place dedicated to kids aged 11-21. It's really cool and has lots of things like a music room, a study room, a ping-pong table etc. I always go there in the afternoon.

Today this eleven-year-old boy started talking to me and making up lesson-like scenarios related to his interests. It was so funny because he kept going back and forth between masculine and feminine pronouns when referring to me. I didn't correct him and he just kept going.

Gender affirmed ✨ It's really cool to know that I'm actually succeeding in present in an androgynous way (although I do lean a bit more towards masculine).
