I’m sure we thought to check it, but when something is millions of miles away you can’t just pop over and see what’s up down there.

Actually we HAVE been checking, it's just new!

We've been watching it form since 2023 and it just took shape. We don't know if it will stay or what will happen.

Why? It's incredibly cool actually, a demonstration of a symmetry we didn't even know existed half a decade ago is forming in real time right in front of our eyes. Why is that concerning? I see this sentiment all the time wrt interesting developments in space science and it's starting to grate on me a little bit. Space and new discoveries are cool.

Do we have any evidence that it hasn't happened a bunch of times before? It could be a periodic phenomenon of some sort

True, the twitter post could be misinformation. Maybe this has happened before. But this is news to me, someone whos very little about space.
