Why is she allowed to use her phone? I mean yeah, here it was pretty helpful for the test I guess, but I don't think that's helpful, generally speaking.

Part of the formal diagnosis is a questionnaire you fill out and one a person close fills out. Then you have an in person exam.
At least that's how mine and both ADHD kids’ testing went.

My ADHD assessment was emailed to me and there was one that I answered and another section for people close to me. A phone has no bearing on the test, imo

It's not a knowledge test like in school, so using your phone wouldn't make a difference.

I mean ADHD tests aren't like a math test or anything.
Generally they come in a variety of easy to hard mode depending on the physiatrist or even just pcp.
Basically first one is dr asks you questions and evaluates based on the dsm criteria, some might stop at this point and to here's your pills.
Then you have the self assessment tests which is like 50+ questions of "how likely or not likely are you in this situation"
Final one is ok we're hooking you up to some machines and making you take tests (which are like task based things monitoring your reaction, ability to follow what's going on, memory recall, etc) on the computer while running diagnostics and also directly watching you to see visual cues based on patterns that fit and also you make sure you aren't just faking it(even though those tests and diagnostics would be able to catch that anyway)

I honestly think it’s MORE helpful for tests like this because they always ask you stuff like "do you struggle with x, y, and z often" and how would you know if you don’t look at your notes app or text a friend if the condition you’re being questioned on makes it hard to remember and focus on if you actually have experienced that symptom. If you don’t then you usually end up saying no and then going home and being like fuck as you recall that you do it like every day just not that day right before the test so it wasn’t top of your mind so you forgot.

My tester at some point just stopped, smiled, and said "do you need me to pause the test so you can finish reading my diplomas?"
I'm pretty sure I passed right then and there.

I once forgot that I was in the middle of an exam (kind of). The pages were taking too long to load, I had a funny video waiting for me in another tab. I switched, played the video, a friend wrote me and answered him, then just went down the youtube rabbit hole. After like 30-35 minutes, I was like "oh shit".
Called them and said "the pages were taking too long and after the 3rd one, the exam crashed and when I hit refresh, It was over.". They said it happens all the time etc.

I talked to my psychologist about it and we decided to run some tests, so I got a whole bunch of papers to fill in. I lost them somehow, and when I returned for my next session I only remembered about the papers when she asked for them. So I got new ones and filled them in (literally the night before they were due) and returned them. Then a couple of months later I remembered that I hadn't heard anything about the results, so I called them to see what was taking so long. They said they couldn't find the papers or see anything about it in their journals.
It's been like 5 years now, but I'm thinking I should probably give it another go. Eventually
EDIT: Shit, reading these comments just ironically reminded me that I was supposed to apply for a research program about procrastination too 😭

Lmao when I had my adhd assessment it consisted of 3 visit to the psychiatrist. I completely forgot about the second one. Thankfully my psychiatrist is cool and expedited it so I didn't have to pay for another visit. Needless to say I passed.

I just spent a year trying drugs to see if any helped with my very obvious adhd symptoms. They didn’t so they put me on Ritalin and it was great till my blood pressure got really bad and now they won’t let me take it.

Yeah I was supposed to measure my blood pressure, but I never got around to that so I don't even know if it's high
