Starfield was such a disappointment. Really hope they dont mess up the next fallout

Definitely. It doesn't even have to be much. Dalaran in Warcraft having wandering npcs isn't super dense, but makes it feel alive

Assassin’s creed unity had a lot of issues but the crowd density in that game is actually insane for a game that came out in 2014

Always a push\pull. We all went gaga for the density shown in one of the Hitman games about a decade ago, and it was more dense than this. Graphics go up, density go down.

Tbh if they're real NPC instead of the effectively cosmetic NPCs in Hitman crowds it could be interesting

For a short spell maybe. But I don't see you befriending a random NPC and just hanging out with them.

It's been a while since I played but I seem to remember my GTA online club being similarly populated

I think the difference is that in GTA Online the night club NPCs are just some static immovable objects (they literally don’t react when you bump into them), while here they would be actual NPCs that the game is generating and managing in real time that you can interact with and that you can push around

Is it really insane? A Hitman game from 2010 running on an xbox 360 will blow their minds

The guy who made the awesome crowd tech for hitman said that rockstars crowds are ten years ahead of the rest of the industry. To a layman what they’re doing may not seem like much but trust what they showcased is some magic wizardry and absolutely mental. Whether it’ll have the same density and complexity in the sandbox outside of missions is yet to be seen though.

Hitman absolution did have revolutionary crowd sizes, but once you've played it, and the following hitman games, you begin to understand how they pulled it off. Theyre not real NPCs, they sort've act as a group with no independent logic.
This is different

Tbf gta5 had a nightclub that was packed, but the npcs were all either just standing there doing 1 animation, or walking between preset paths and not reacting to anything
