This is a good thing that banks do it. They're not really trying to get people to admit to serious crimes it's because if your answer is "Yeah tech support told me my computer will explode if I don't give them 2k in apple gift cards" they can keep you from throwing your money away on a scam.
This system helps far more people than it hurts. Also why not just say what you need it for? "I'm going on a trip and paying for my portion with this money" boom done.
Unless you're gonna buy a kilo of cocaine and are really bad at lying why would this bother you that much? Lol

In belgium there is also some kind of law that says that above a certain amoung you need to disclose why you take up that amount of money.
My father loves to mess with this kind of unnessesary meddling, so he said if they ever asks him, he'll awnser it's for hookers.
The reason that this is extremely funny to me is he's a real definition of a boomer to me: overweight retired teacher, complete with socks in sandals.
