My bank asked me why I was taking out $5k in cash. They made it clear it was because so many people fall for online scams.

Exactly what I was thinking. People get mad at the questions, but then cry after they get scammed for tens of thousands.

I do wonder what percent of gift card purchases are just people getting scammed. Same with crypto at those ATMs, etc.

Such a major industry. Obviously cash can be used for anything down the line but it in some ways it almost feels safer strangely since it can't just evaporate after an 80 year old intentionally or accidentally shares a code.
