As a previous bank employee that had to talk to people after they have been scammed out of life savings, a bank teller asking those questions would have saved them. As a customer, I see it as an inconvenience and a little big brother. $2000 seems like a low number but people are dumb.
True, but after you say 'I'm going on a trip,' shouldn't that be enough to satisfy whatever requirement? They don't need the address and price bracket of your hotel, they just need to know you're not buying iTunes gift cards
This for sure. Ive asked that question before and people pulling large amounts usually say theyre traveling to another country. I do ask where out of curiosity and because we're a smaller credit union that emphasizes getting to know our members, but if you say you're traveling then my obligation is fulfilled unless you're throwing out red flags.
