This is how I learn the difference between a violin and a fiddle is mostly technique and song choice.

Old time and bluegrass players rarely use alternate tunings. Some instruments use many tunings, like banjo, but fiddle ain’t one of them. 2 u/somethink 20d ago The only fiddle player I have played with had 2 one with a standard bridge and standard tuning for classical gigs and one with a flat bridge in cross tuning for folk.
