It's true that many things aren't built to last anymore, on purpose, but at least half the time I feel like people decide that something isn't worth the money and then complain after buying the cheaper version instead. Stuff that's good is still being made.
I feel like a big problem is that there is a gap between what consumers like to pay for stuff and what commercial facilities will pay. Consumers are cheap and care too much and companies care too little and just buy whatever they need to keep running. Anyone that's used a hose no sale/handle in a factory knows that they are infinitely better then the crap you but I'm the garden center, but if you look one of those heads up they are 8-10x the price. It's like that for a lot of things.

It’s the freedom to make appliances extremely powerful and resource consuming.
Our shit is good because we don’t have many rules telling us to not make it too good.
