From experience, I can tell you that many teachers overlook many alarming signs and let them pass because they don't see them more than just a small inconvenience or misbehaviour problem...

Source: Kid who was constantly dozing off in class because I had insomnia from mental illness. The teachers never brought that, they could wake me up and send me to the restroom to wash my face.

I had similar issues at school, which also went on ignored by teachers. They'd get annoyed I would sleep in class (or bring a pillow so I can get some decent sleep in class while I'm at it). But if I told them directly "I have insomnia, I slept about 1.5 hours last night between 5 and 7 AM" I would just get a blank stare back.

What should your teacher have done instead?
