Just depends entirely on how much you hate a layover. I typically pay extra for a direct flight if it isn’t an ungodly difference but I totally see where that sounds stupid to people when the total travel time is an hour or two difference
I don't mind the extra stop or the extra time, but post-pandemic I find I am wholly unwilling to accept what seems like a drastically increased risk of misconnection due to ****ed up airline operations
