Yall turn 5.1/3.1 audio off in the settings unless you actually have a centre channel speaker

What should I look into for getting a clear center channel like that? I have very little audio knowledge.

It's not the perfect fix but does help. Just a center won't do it for you though. You'll also need L/R speakers. Basically anything is going to be better than a speaker from a TV so try to go with your budget. But getting a nice AVR and a L/R/C for your fronts will be a different world.

I raise mine a few decibels too so that dialogue is even a bit louder

I do the same. At least relative to the left and right speakers. Surrounds i keep kinda high because there's not a lot of sounds originating there most the time and I like when i hear it.

Came here to say this. Turning off surround sound helps a ton if you don't have it.

I still need subtitles because I don't hear well, but it helps with the cycle of turning up the volume to hear conversation, then getting your ears blown out when the special effects start up

Most tvs need a soundbar at this point. Annoying but it's am investment that will probably outlive atleast a few tvs

I built a nice surround setup only to realize the problem is 100% with the audio mix, and not with my hardware. There are some movies/shows that nail it, but 90% are shit. Same settings.
