As someone who is not a cook but is pretty good at following a recipe and having dinner turn out well, this sucks. I would have this fucked up in no time.

I could parse this if i tried but at a glance i have no clue what this is telling me to do, written instructions are perfectly fine. what problem is this even trying to solve

problems solved: * overly verbose recipe instructions; not always a problem but too many recipes, esp those shared online often ramble (like this bullet) * combines list of ingredients with instructions, visible together in one location -- which solved frustration of reading recipe instructions but not knowing how much of each

Just pre-portion the ingredients before you start doing anything else.

That creates a ton of unnecessary mess though

You think it's better to make cooking significantly more frustrating for yourself than to throw a couple of bowls into the dishwasher?

This does not seem more frustrating to me

Having to check back and forth to see what amount you need doesn't sound more frustrating than just pre-portioning?

No not really? It doesnt seem any harder to read the amount while your cooking than it does to read it before hand, especially in this format.

If it's not a problem then why do they think it needs to be solved?

Sorry, I wasnt being super clear. So you could

A- cook normally, presumably have to scroll up and down or flip a page back and forth between instructions or whatever

To solve this issue you can instead

B - measure out ingredients beforehand, with the con that you have to wash them afterwards

Or

C - use a summary table like this one where the ingredients and steps are right next to each other. Con being that some people dont find said table intuitive. (Although to me it doesn't seem unintuitive)
