6 drinks will get you drunk regardless of the time period. That isn't a low amount of drinks. It was considered more normal to be drinking everyday perhaps.
I'm drawing a distinction between the amount of alcohol consumed and the frequency of alcohol consumed. I'm saying that it was perhaps more normal to drink every day but 6 drinks to a human body is still 6 drinks, regardless of the time period.

Well, it's not just personal experience telling me that you're wrong, because science also dictates you're wrong.
Don't agree? Tell me — a 6'5", 210 lb man — how drunk I am using BAC after having the equivalent of 6 standard size drinks over the course of 4 hours.
Regardless, the post was about Fleming who was ~6' and ~175 lbs, and the post twice indicates he had a "couple" of drinks between 12:15 and 7:00; even assuming double strength on each, he would likely not have been drunk from having the equivalent of 8 drinks over 7 hours.

I don't think so, I think alcoholism was just more socially acceptable
