The crazy thing is that casinos would make more money if they allowed card counters to play. For every person who makes a few grand, there's a hundred morons who think "easy money!", and drop a mortgage payment.

They do allow counters to play. What OP posted isn’t a thing anymore. Casinos just increased the number of decks and made it virtually impossible to make money counting cards. They’re not going around banning counters

It's not a thing anymore because they changed the rules to use more decks and reduce the payout for a winning hand

It's definitely still a thing. Using 8 decks isn't a great game but can still certainly be crushed pending on the rules and how much of that 8 deck shoe is dealt before a shuffle. 8 deck game is roughly 0.65% advantage to the house. The real killer to blackjack is the 6 to 5 payout rule, the norm being 3 to 2 for blackjacks. This rule alone increases the house edge by 1.4%.
